A sturdy, hardcover book, with plenty of room for customisation, the Maker's Notebook is a very useful piece of stationary to have to hand when doing any sort of project work. It's got a space for the project name, time, date etc. on every page (which are all numbered), a very large area for diagramming or notes of course and a handy set of reference charts in the back!

Why 4 stars and not 5 I hear you ask? As a hardcover book it has a tendency to like to close itself near the beginning and end. You can bend it back but it doesn't completely alleviate the problem. Clip it down or stick a weight on it and it's fine.

But this notebook is one of the best. if like me your constantly coming up with hair brained ideas/projects then this is the notebook for you to collect your thoughts. It includes extra features that most other notebooks just do not have like the 21 page maker reference section at the back which is excellent. The secret compartment with 2 sheets of stickers that you can use to categorize your idea/projects. Something which i found very handy was the paper ruler on the first page. Great quality paper used throughout and very rugged.
If your a maker/ Inventor then this is for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than I expected 8 Jan. 2012

I had received one of these for Christmas and loved it, so when I saw it on Amazon I decided to buy it. From the reviews and pictures...and even the video showing how to create a pocket in the back, I settled on it thinking I was getting an older version of this notebook, which would've explained the price, but it is the newer version with a pocket already built in and containing all the neat little stickers and such. The Reference section is well organized and easy to read. The pages have plenty of room for sketching your ideas or documenting your experiments and a table of contents page to help you find what you're looking for later. I highly recommend this notebook to those who want a notebook that steps outside of the ordinary (composition books anyone?) and allows you to completely personalize it inside and out while giving you the technical requirements needed for permanently documenting your work.

I'm not a "maker" so the cool glossary of LED coding and circuits isn't as useful to me as it may be for you.

As a long time Moleskine user, I'm preferring the Maker's Notebook because...
- it has the page marker, elastic band to hold it closed, and the back pocket.
- unlike the Moleskine, it has pre-numbered pages, a spot to put the project name, the date
- they have a few index pages in the front set aside for listing pages of important contents
- the grid lined pages are great for writing and diagraming

Cool too they give you some fun stickers to put on the cover and spine
5.0 out of 5 stars My main idea notebook! 31 Dec. 2013

I use this to jot down my ideas and to think them through clearly. I even modified it to my liking and it has been an absolute pleasure to use. I like that the grids are so fine and that there is some additional information in the back for me to reference. I highly recommend this for any maker!

I have always been interested in making/building things. This book is definitely helpful. I am able to put my ideas in the book and with the grid paper, makes it easier to sketch everything out. Towards the back of the book it even has helpful measurements, info, and facts.
