My wife and I have been wanting to open a coffee shop ever since we got married. Unfortunately, neither my wife or I have any experience in owning our own business and neither of us have any experience in selling coffee. We knew we needed some sort of guide if we wanted to succeed because there's a lot of competition in our area in the form of Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks. This book has been a godsend from the moment we bought it. We found that promoting a coffee shop is drastically different from how you would promote any other business. This book explains how essential it is that a coffee shop attain repeat customers because it these customers who will help you grow your business. Repeat customers need to be targeted and this book gives you a step-by-step process to do that while also giving you marketing advice that will help you bring in people who have only ever bought their coffee at the big box stores we're now competing with. This book has been essential to our new business' success and we highly recommend it. A+

My runs a coffee shop in our town, she was doing alright until a Costa branch opened near by. I bought her this book in a desperate bid to see what strategies we could find and keep the store running. It was a great help, significantly more than I expected. Within the month we were able to get back to normal operation level and soon we even surpassing this from the new customers we were getting in despite having a strong competitor down the road.

This is one of those books where the author says things like "I'm your biggest fan"; "Start building your empire TODAY"; "You are in the business of selling"; etc.

It's a general marketing/sales guru book injected with occasional coffee shop terminology. The author writes books about computers, managing rental properties, and now a book on how to take your coffee shop profits Sky High! He doesn't know anything about coffee shops, his job is to sell books. Thankfully I am an Amazon Prime member and I was able to borrow it and didn't waste money to buy it.

Interestingly, the author encourages small businesses to build an email list. Interesting because it is 2012 (publish date of 2011) and the expert marketing guru author doesn't know that no one reads email anymore; people text, facebook, and twitter their way through life now. Anyone who still uses email is so bombarded with spam that they automatically delete anything that remotely looks like advertising. In other words, this book is not only a general sales and marketing book rehashed to sell to coffee shop owners, but is isn't even a thoughtfully rehashed sales and marketing book.

The only silver lining to wasting my time reading this book is that I can warn others away from wasting theirs.

I have always wanted to open my own coffee shop and aside from my addiction for coffee, create a successful business. This book was instrumental and guiding me through the details on growing my new shop and I would highly recommend that everyone purchase this book whether you have your own business or are considering opening one, you need to get this book!
