The complete first series of a fondly remembered television production. John Stride and Kate O'Mara head up a strong cast of classic actors in a wide range of stories that were bold and brave in their time (and still are today!). The series got better as it progressed; I hope that more are released.

Hadn't seen this series for decades.Glad that it was as good as I remembered it.Intelligently written with excellent performances from all the regular actors.Shame about the sound/lip synchronisation which is poor and distracting.Personally I did not like the episode based in Cuba. It did not seem to belong in this series. Others may disagree.I will certainly buy Series 2.

I watched this series when it was first released in Australia in the early 70s and loved it. I had been watching out for it on Amazon for some time, and was delighted to find it at last. After 40 years changes in clothes and hairstyles make it almost a period piece, not to mention changes in society. The divorce laws which apply in the series were changed here in Australia in the 70s; I presume they have been changed in the UK also. However, the issues which confront David Main in his personal life are as real today as ever as he tries to juggle work and family. The storyline of each episode is played out against the background of sexual tension between him, his wife, and his beautiful secretary. I found it just as enthralling this time around as previously, and watched it all in 2 days.
Don't be put off by the black and white format - you soon get used to that. Viewers in Australia and elsewhere can watch the British region version without a problem as long as they have a multi-region DVD player.
So please BBC, bring out series 2 and the rest of the set as soon as possible.

It was ok to watch, though I will not be buying another series. The Brothers is my favourite programme from this era.

I absolutely loved this series, in fact I liked it so much I have bought the other 3 series. The storylines in each episode are excellent and each one is totally different. It's wondful to see all the old faces again.

This series is in black and white which I enjoyed, for me it was a blast from the past. Looking back at the fashions, hairstyles, furnishings and cars etc was really interesting and tweaked many a memory. The accents are very plummy and everyone is very proper and smart, not a yobbo in sight.

This series is only from the 60's but it could be a thousand years ago comparing it to now. Thoroughly enjoyable.

So pleased that the Main Chance is available on DVD - I have been looking for it in hope for some years. The actors are excellent and it's so nice to see the beautiful Anna Palk David Main's glamorous secretary. Sadly she died some years ago but this is a legacy to her. Please can we have some more episodes released on DVD?Thoroughly recommended to viewer old and new.

This was one wonderful TV series that I remember from the early 1970's. I would LOVE to see this again, but please release this for Zone 4 (Australia & New Zealand) as well. I watched this in New Zealand and later Canada so it was very popular outside the UK also. I hope the entire series will be released on DVD but please let your 'downunder' viewers have a chance to see this again. Unfortunately after this very successful TV series John Stride only reappeared in minor parts, which was a shame.
