A new DJing era begins
More innovative than any other DJ software – The integrated unique mufin technology actually helps you quickly select complimentary audio tracks, saving you time by searching for new songs that perfectly match your music selections with the innovative analysis provided by the mufin engine – all with a single click!

Ideal for beginners and DJ pros
Creating new DJ sets is especially difficult for beginners. With its mufin technology, MAGIX Digital DJ offers a unique function that helps in the selection of fitting songs! This way, the excitement of DJing stays at the forefront, and time-consuming search for new songs is no longer necessary.

The unique mufin technology...
The mufin technology analyses music on your hard disk for its audio characteristics. New music that fits well to the current song is suggested for play. All found tracks will be visible at a glance, sorted according to similarity inside a list. Practical! For the mufin technology, only the sound is of essence, so any song can be used as a starting song, even your own music!

Create playlists and fill up your playlists & DJ sets with the best songs

Playlists & DJ sets can be compiled quickly & intuitively
The best DJs create their sets ahead of time and save these as playlists in order to be able to concentrate on just mixing. With MAGIX Digital DJ, you can easily add any songs on your hard disk to a playlist. It is possible to create, save and replay (for example at the next birthday party or at a BBQ) various sets in just seconds!

Song preview function and "beat matching"
Using the preview function*, you can quickly and easily test whether the selected title fits to the current song and can be integrated into the open set. Your audience doesn't hear beat matching of songs and testing of various effects - the DJ can preview everything through his headphones, and the dance floor keeps moving from one perfect transition to the next.

Handy browser and search function
To help you quickly orient inside even a big music collection with many albums, songs and remixes, the intuitive browser offers access to all music titles on the hard drive. Additionally, thanks to the quick search function, fitting songs for a set or a spontaneous switch in the mix may be found quickly.

Start making your own DJ mix using music from iTunes!

iTunes view*
This useful view visualises music just like in a typical iTunes layout and lets you mix music from the iTunes database without any detours directly in MAGIX Digital DJ! The song views and playlists may be manipulated in a normal way. Titles may placed into the decks or added to playlists simply using drag and drop.

Access to all iTunes playlists*
Those who have already spent time arranging their favorite music into iTunes playlists, will be glad to know that iTunes playlists are displayed and songs may be quickly imported from them; this saves time and lets you start DJing and mixing your favourite tracks right away!

DJ software with AutoMix
Party non-stop with just one click! The integrated AutoMix function automatically plays all songs from one playlist, mixes the tracks with each other and delivers hours or perfectly mixed music – without any interventions by a DJ. The playlist can be played from start to finish or in shuffle mode.
PLUS! The duration of transitions can be set and altered at any time.

DJ style & bass fade
With its DJ style function, the AutoMix lets tracks seamlessly mix into each other on the beat. There are no pauses and the crowd can keep dancing, as if with a professional DJ!
PLUS! Bass X-Fade function: Bass frequencies will appear and disappear on their own.

Seamless transitions and beat-precise mixing - Precise beat & tempo recognition
Wearisome listening to determine the rhythm and beat of a song are a thing of the past! MAGIX Digital DJ automatically recognises the beat and tempo of all songs. The speed and pitch of any two songs can be matched to each other with one click to ensure a perfect transition – ideal for beginners!

Handy peak visualisation
Peakscope lets you keep your eye on the mix and stay on the beat! Visualisation in the peakscope helps find quick and easy transitions and synchronize tracks with each other.

Always stay on the right beat - thanks to the master tempo
The master tempo determines the tempo of a DJ set, if desired, so that the DJ software can orient on the current master tempo during synchronisation of various songs from the playlist, letting the overall mix never get faster or slower. This feature helps DJs to avoid making drastic tempo jumps within a set and to ensure an overall consistent mix, e.g. in DJ style.

Match the playback tempo or pitch
An important DJ tool: Pitch fader DJs need the pitch function to make sure that songs with different tempo or pitch are made to match one another for good playback. MAGIX Digital DJ has a pitch fader in each of its two decks - easy to access and intuitive to use, the optimal DJ tool!
PLUS! Smoothly adjust track tempo

Useful: Keep pitch
When mixing different songs, it can happen that the tempo of one track must be adjusted, and changing the tempo also changes the pitch. This can sometimes cause unpleasant and undesired distortions, nicknamed "Mickey Mouse sounds". The key-lock button helps in these cases - when it is activated, the pitch remains constant when the song tempo changes. When it is deactivated, the track's pitch also changes.
TIP! This function can be used creatively during DJing.

Your own remixes complete with loops, scratches & samples - Remix with the realtime sampler
MAGIX Digital DJ offers manifold innovative functions that let you express yourself when DJing. With the built-in realtime sampler you can load up to eight samples or loops at a time and mix them to the playing track in realtime. The sampler is ideally suited to add your own or one or several already included sounds to any number of songs and create your own remix versions!

Chop up audio with the Relooper Another impressive tool for creating suspense and dramatic breaks in playing songs is the Relooper. A playing song is broken up into individual pieces, re-combined and played back as a loop - it's the easiest way to creatively influence a mix!

Loop function
The loop function can be used to repeat section of a song in various lengths. This way, suspense can be created before a break or an especially catchy part of a song may be repeated again and again. It is possible to vary the length of the loop from 8 full beats to 1/32 of a beat and to set in- and outpoints by hand.
PLUS! Leap function: Repeat parts of a song and then set back to the current playback position.

Mix effects for real DJ sound - 3-band equalizer with kill function
The EQ is the best tool for preparing the sound of a song for the mix in the best possible way; here you can easily adjust the high, middle and low frequencies of a song. The extremely handy band kill function even makes it possible to turn each of the three bands on or off with a simple click. Additionally, you can use this function as an exciting effect during mixing.

Additional precise DJ tools
For those who want to make more out of their DJ mixes, will find a large selection of precise DJ tool and effects
  • Bit Crusher: reduces the audio material's quality to create a popular electronic sound
  • Filter functions: various filters for exciting effects (low pass, band pass, notch, comb & phaser)
  • Cue marker: selects parts of songs which can then be directly controlled and played back
  • Reverb, or echo effect
  • Equaliser and the effects can be easily controlled and customised via the effect matrix
Mixing software with a professional Audio Engine - Highly precise 64-bit Audio Engine
MAGIX Digital DJ is powered by Deckadance, the reference DJ software and offers a highly precise Audio Engine, developed especially for DJing on Macs and PCs. All processes are calculated internally with a professional 64-bit engine and deliver perfect sound and absolute stability.

ASIO support (only for the PC version)
ASIO allows lower CPU loads during DJing and enables operation of audio applications with lower latencies. MAGIX Digital DJ installation includes an ASIO driver ASIO4ALL. This has two benefits:

  • Speed: ASIO drivers (in general) allow lower CPU overhead and shorter buffer length than the standard Windows (DirectSound, WDM Driver). If possible, you should always use an ASIO driver for your sound card.
  • Multiple audio devices: With the ASIO4ALL driver, you can attach additional audio devices, such as external USB sound cards, which can be used to monitor the output with your headphones* while the main output continues to please the crowd.

Compatible with Windows 7
MAGIX Digital DJ works without any problems with Windows 7.
The advantage: If you switch to the new Windows operating system, you will be able to continue to use this product as usual.
For Microsoft Windows XP / Vista | 7

DJ software is clearly split into two camps, professional and aspiring DJ.

The professional software usually starts at around £200-£300 and is geared up to be used in anger in both a live and a studio environment. The aspiring DJ software is aimed at those wanting to learn how to DJ, try out mixing, or just get rid off embarrassing silences when playing music at parties. This software sits firmly in the aspiring DJ section and offers pretty much the same features and functions as the many other home DJ packages currently on the market.

I used this on a Mac on Snow Leopard and it ran with no problems. One of the key features is that it fully integrates into iTunes (some Windows DJ software will only let you mix Mp3s which means you are forced to reimport music that you have already in iTunes).

So what can it do? Well, all the usual suspects are here, virtual decks, sampler, and simple effects. To start, you load your chosen tracks onto each virtual deck, you can play one while previewing the other in headphones (you need two soundcards for this), the software will auto beat match the songs and then you can start mixing. You can mix manually or use one of the pre-defined Automix types, there is even a small EQ so you can strip out the bass on one track. A small effects unit allows you to 'phase' the tracks as well if you like to create interesting effects.

Once you are familiar with this, you can start to use the in-built sampler which opens up a whole new world of loops too. You won't be creating professional remixes but it will give you a taste as to what its all about. And this pretty much sums up the whole package, it gives you a taste. What it does, it does competently.

OK, I was interested in this because my old copy of Traktor DJ won't run on Windows 7 so I took the plunge and bought this. Wish I hadn't bothered as I should have known from past experience how buggy Magix software is. Although Digital DJ works to a degree it suffers in a few areas. I have a top notch sound card, lots of ram and a powerful processor in my PC, so I should not be getting stuttering and drop outs in the sound which is the last thing you want when creating a mix. I've messed about with ASIO, latency settings all to no avail. My other big gripe is that there is no record to WAV function!? Ridiulous. This is only available if you upgrade to the Deckadance House or Club editions which will set you back another £59.99 and £109.99 respectively. So the only way to record is via an external mixer or capture the sound via the 'What you hear' setting of your soundcard and hope that the recording doesn't pick up any system sounds from the PC. The other big drawback is that you can't alter the window sizes of the mixer or the browser. All in all a substandard product but then what do you expect for 30 quid. Guess I will have to save up for the latest Traktor Pro version.

I have been thoroughly unimpressed with Magix products so far and Digital DJ is no exception.

This software is completely unstable. I loaded it into my good laptop but was disappointed when it turned out to be very, very buggy.

I've discovered that many Magix products are similar to open source programs freely available off the Internet. Aspiring DJs and mixers should either check them out or invest in better software and avoid this bad package altogether.

I was really looking forward to my first attempt at DJing. I got quite excited when I went through the Quick Start on page 16 and started to explore the system. Then I turned to page 18 to load some songs. I've been stuck there ever since. Clicking on the load icon does produce my normal file browser but 'The selected track will load immeidately into the deck that opened the browser' - doesn't! Nor does dragging a file from the browser onto the track window - it just goes back to the browser.

Mind you, I'm not sure exactly which the track window is, so I've tried dragging to every possible position on the screen - to no effect.

Typing key words in the 'Search' window at the top of the browser produces nothing.

The manual doesn't help with the dark 'screenshots' of the DJ window. It's difficult to make out exactly what is what on it.

All in all, pretty useless to a beginner unless you've got someone to help you out. So it's uninstall and back in the box.

This latest Magix DJ package has all the features you would expect- mixer, beat detection, looper, and some handy additional fetaures apparently for the more precise DJ such as a bit cruncher which suitably distorts your sound into that familiar dog chewed sound, phaser, reverb, and equilizer- but I wouldn't consider any of those extras, I would assume those should be part of any such package.
I don't have any problem with the features present- the beat mapping works well when linking to your iTunes or playlsit, though considering much of my playlist is metal so the software struggles to keep up with anything too complex. There are some glaring omissions though- a WAV recorder being an obvious oversight. I have no issue with design and feel- it's fairly easy to use and the automix is handy- everything looks stylish enough. The main gripes are that much of this can be found cheaper, or for free elsewhere, and that it is catering to those folks who fancy a quick party in the house and want to act the DJ for the night- something a bit more than hitting shuffle on their ipod. Any budding DJs will be looking elsewhere for the real thing. In addition i did find a few bugs, mostly that tracks can leap about like a monkey on lava. With that vision in your head, I bid you farewell. Farewell.
