Product Description

About the Author

Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), also known as 'The Great Beast' and the 'Wickedest Man in the World,' was one of the most profound students of Magick, Qabalah and yoga psychology. His vast influence reaches through all modern occultism. He is widely recognized as the first Western investigator to give initiation a truly scientific method. In reconciling occultism to physical science, mathematics and philosophy, Crowley achieved a lasting synthesis that remains unsurpassed for depth of insight and comprehensiveness. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

It's a real shame that this book is out of print - It's one of my favourite books that I return to again and again. The binding and warm cover are excellent and suit the tone of the text. It's perfect for those who are more interested in the philosophies of Thelema / Crowley rather than the sometimes complex ritualistic side of his work. It's written in a very human down to earth tone and perhaps more uniquely it is a warm and funny book. I often find myself laughing at loud or just smiling at the rye humour that permeates the text. There is a wealth of information in here that is broken down into easy to understand language and even after many years of reading I always find something new or have a different understanding of what is being said when I come back to it.

Excellent as an introduction tp or general overview of magick as a philosophy. Frequently asked questions arranged as a collection of replies to a correspondent. Easy to read, devoid of jargon or classical language, unusually for Crowley.

Written towards the end of his life this volume shows exactly how much clarity of thought he possessed and the eloquence with which he could state these sometimes dreadfully abstract problems by putting everything into a series of fortnightly letters to another on the path and Letter 1 is a development of a similar statement in Book IV but here it is presented in a far clearer fashion.
The whole book can best be described as sublime.
