So real it feels as if someone you love is telling her own story (Sun)

A story-telling tour de force. Sentimental, romantic and very saleable, this will appeal to every reader who adored The Thorn Birds (Publishers Weekly)

So glad Lena Kennedy is now in Kindle version, Maggie was the first Lena Kennedy book I read, I absolutely loved it, that I have read it several times. I have just downloaded Maggie and Autumn Alley and added the rest to my wish list (which I will buy next pay day)

once you have started this book, you immediatly feel at one with it, and it seems impossible to stop reading! the reader becomes so engrossed in the book, that they could almost be living the events of maggies life themselves. Kennedy's novel follows the protagonist 'Maggie' through out her life sharing with her, her highs and lows about growing up in a tough adoptive family in the East End of London during the war. The novel takes many unexpected twists and turns which only adds to fuel the interest of the reader. An utter feeling of loss occurs when the book has finished because it seems to encompass them within the novel to such a large and impressionable extent, which rarely happens with a book.

What a moving tale. Maggie's plight as a child and as a young bride was beautifully brought to life along with the wonderful descriptions of life in the East End of London during the Blitz.

All the decisions that Maggie made concerning her children and the men in her life were explored and explained brilliantly.

Once again Lena Kennedy has left me wanting to read more of her stories set in
London during WW2.

Wonderful. I loved the whole story. Her struggles, her way of rising above everything, Maggie is a strong woman, who is probably styled on many women of the time. Surviving and hardly daring for something better, but dreaming of a release from it all. The London Setting was so vividly described I could feel how hard it would have been to live there.

I absolutely loved this novel - couldn't put it down and considering I only read in bed there were a few very late nights. The hardships this generation had thrust on them was so real and being of a certain age I can relate to some of it. I will be looking out for another by this author very soon. Well done Lena

Why was I in such a rush to finish this book?
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading all about Maggie and her brood and just wish the story could have gone on longer - I am now suffering from "the post-book blues" !!!

First time reading of any novel by Lena Kennedy and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Although quite a long novel I was kept interested from beginning to end . An easy and relaxing read and loved the character of Maggie. Will certainly read more from Lena. Highly recommended .

Oh my goodness, the twists and turns of Maggie's life are all at once awesome and highly frustrating. Incredible family dynamics make the book un putdownable. Sad to see the end but that's what happens when a book pulls you in.
