Product Description

Made In Jamaica is a powerful and intimate portrait of the leaders of the reggae movement. It is also the story of how an island nation of only three million people channel poverty, desperation, hedonism and the harshness of their existence into a politically conscious, joyful and spiritual music with a universal reach a celebration of life in the Kingston ghetto. This really is a load of bollocks. More tropical hip-hop than traditional reggae. More non-talents (like Elephant Man) than the "old guard". Buy "Rock, Roots & Reggae" instead if you want to see a glimpse of the greats (like Jacob Miller and Lee "Scratch" Perry). On the 'plus' side: Some amazingly gorgeous women and a neat, rusting shipwreck on the beach.

I junked this dvd. Aside from the babes, it's unwatchable and the "music" is awful.

This is a very good insight into the Royal music of Jamaica that provides a good contrast / insight between new and older styles I myself much prefer the roots foundation but can appreciate the newer forms. This is a MUST purchase BOOM LOVE IT !!
