Having recently been diagnosed with OCD myself, I felt as though, at times, I was looking at a mirror of myself. Reading an intricate reflection of the thoughts I have had, the feelings I have endured and the sentences I have muttered at the hands of my own "Jareth The Goblin King" was a comforting reminder that mental illness is not as isolating as it feels.
A definite must read for anyone suffering with or helping the mentally afflicted.
Bryony's story, so beautifully written is a heartbreaking description of her illness and what it took for her to find ways to get better. That she did so is a testament to her courage and the transformational potential of human love when we learn how to offer it to ourselves and receive it from others.
A wonderful book
To open up about such personal things to the reader can't have been easy - as we see mentioned at the end of the book - but I hope Bryony knows the difference she's making.
I read the end with tears in my eyes, both an emotional final few pages and sad to have finished this book!!
