I first read MacKenzies Mountain and MacKenzies Mission many, many years ago and I really loved both stories, although I have to say that MacKenzies Mountain was my favourite. I loved Wolf, he was great.
I wanted to revisit with the MacKenzies so I bought these books again and I'm so glad I did. Again, MacKenzies Mountain was my favourite,
I read it straight through without any breaks!!! It gets a definite 5/5 from me!!
I'm now looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

I first read Mackenzie's Mountain about 18 or so years ago and loved it. Over time the details got hazy but the name Wolf, the mountain, the dumpy schoolteacher, and the son's obsession with flying remained and the wonderful resource that is Amazon's message boards was enough to rediscover this title earlier this year.
I thought the story held up very well after so many years and fell in love with Mary, Wolf and especially Joe all over again. A beautiful book that I found after so many years and now a definite keeper.

Of course then I also found out that Wolf and Mary spawned quite a dynasty as this also contains Joe's story. Mackenzie's Mission was also enjoyable, adult Joe does not have the "sweetness" he had at 16 (who does?) but is still honourable, gorgeous and fly boy sexy. Caroline is a nice spunky match for him.

Obviously there is no way I'm not going to finish the saga so the other Mackenzie stories will find their way into my basket at some time or another.

Thank you Amazon and the internet for reacquainting me with a book I adored.

Wolf and Joe are very alpha male characters

McKenzies Mountain: Wolf Mackenzie, being half Indian-Anglo, struggles to maintain his low key profile in a town where he is not accepted by its white inhabitants. His low key profile is abliterated when new teacher comes to town and changes his life forever. This is a really sensual and fun read.

McKenzies Mission: This is the story of Colonel Joe "Breed" MacKenzie and Caroline Evans, Physicist and computer geek. They meet while working on the Night Hawk, a top secret military air craft. He is the project manager and she is a civilian working for a private military contractor.
Their romance is combustible although they go through a rough spot of mistrust. He suspects her of sabotaging the project. It all gets cleared up in the end, however after some exciting twists and turns. Joe is a sexy dude and has the sensitivity to handle the skittish and innocent Caroline. Their romance sizzles and sex is hot!

HASH(0x8a916e18) out of 5 stars The MacKenzie Series: Can't Wait for Novel 5 !!!! 23 Aug. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Come on Linda, bring on Chance's story!!! Starting with Wolf (Mackenzie's Mountain), then his children Joe (MacKenzie's Mission), Zane (MacKenzie's Pleasure) and Maris (MacKenzie's Magic), the series brings together strong passionate men with women who are more than a match for them. The heroines are likeable, and I believe most of us can identify with at least one of them. As for the MacKenzie men, I agree with a previous reviewer - Where can I get one of my own!?! Let's hope that Linda Howard writes brother Chance's story soon......

Okay, Chance's book has been published since I wrote this review. Do yourself a favor, and read this one too!

HASH(0x8aa69e24) out of 5 stars Mackenzies Mission and Mackenzies Mountain 8 Jan. 1998
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
These 2 books were just great when I first read them. I had to read them over again just to embrace the feel of these two wonderful and different individuals. I have also read "Zacks" story Mackenzie's Pleasure, which left me hungry for "Chance's" story which will be a great one also. If you like the Mackenzies as much as I do, you also need to read Christmas Kisses, which has a story by Ms. Howard about the Mackenzie's baby sister Maris. I hope everyone enjoys these stories as much as I have. Happy reading!

HASH(0x8a898ad4) out of 5 stars Where can I get one of these MacKenzies?!?!? 7 May 1997
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Every once in a while you find a 'keeper,' a book that you don't lend out and you read over and over again, and no matter what is going on, when you're done reading a 'keeper' you feel that warm sense of satisfaction deep inside. I felt this way about Linda Howard's MacKenzie books. Wolf was a man in a million, and you had this feeling that Joe was definitely going to walk in his father's footsteps - and he did! The female characters, Mary and Caroline are both fiesty, challenging and hold their own against the MacKenzie men!

The books move quickly and her characters are well defined with distinctive personalities and depth. Wolf MacKenzie gave me tingles, Joe 'Breed' MacKenzie made me fly, and I can't wait for the next one! When I finished MacKenzie's Mountain, I didn't think any story could top it; and then I went right into MacKenzie's Mission and found it even better!

Linda Howard's MacKenzie books stand in a class of their own. She brings her characters alive with action, passion and emotions. When you read one of her books, you leave the real world behind and become a part of the story. Be careful though, this book is one of those 'just one more page' books, until you realize that you're at the end of the book!

Please, Linda, let's get with it!! We want to read Chance's story. He MUST have one, the MacKenzie's are the most romantic and exciting family since the MacGregor's of Nora Roberts. Please, get busy with Chance MacKenzie's story.
