Macallan is my personal favourite scotch and a bargain at the price. This is a more subtle whisky than some single malt and it could be too "light weight" for some but personally I like the fact it is lighter and more refined. It doesn't have an overpowering taste of peat or smoke like some and isn't too dry. I'd previously been drinking Dalwinnie and Singleton and Macallan is in my opinion preferable. It is slightly fruity and quite complex in flavour. I came to drinking scotch via bourbon, so this is very much to my own palate. I'd recommend to anyone who likes good Bourbon but wants to try single malt. At the end of the day it is all about personal taste!

Great smooth whisky, highly recommended and for the price it is a non brainier, a must try for any whisky lover (it is not a smokey whisky)

I love most single malts including this one - the exception is too peaty or too smokey which gives a kind of chemical taste although the medium smokiness and peatiness is very nice - also avoid the cheaper malt Scotch in cut price stores- McCallums are very nice malts.

Terrible whisky - bought it initially as a present as picture when I bought it showed 2 glasses (now removed). Not only was it just the whisky (no glasses) it a mediocre whisky at best. Misleading ad, very disappointed

how can you charge 48 quid for a basic NAS whisky that is bottom of the line and bland. rediculous, the supermarkets sell it for 30 quid - 35 when its not on offer

I have appreciated single malt whisky for many years. Nowadays it's pretty much all I drink, and in small amounts, for the flavour. I LOVE this whisky. It isn't a big Smokey heavy thing, it's true flavour will dawn on you gradually. It truly is an artful distillation. A luxurious mouth feel with a silkiness that lingers. Not sweet, but pleasant, pleasing, rewarding. Not light, as such, there is a real flavour there that is perfectly pitched. This is a great whisky to treat with respect. If you haven't made it past the big hitters like laphroaig yet, give it time, there's plenty more to a single malt than smoke and peat.

Some might really like its being lighter on the palate than Macallan's richer, peatier and sherry/oak infused whiskies. I just found it pleasant but a little light weight.
