Richard Harris has always been one of mine. It certainly wouldn't be regarded as hip ot trendy to like a dead Irish actor but there was never a better interpreter of Jimmy Webb material.
Firstly there's the definitive version of MacArthur Park, but the two albums Harris recorded of Webb material are featured within this disc.
Tramp Shining had a rather ethereal feel to it and The Yard Went on Forever was full of wonderful songs with an almost surrealist feel. These songs show Webb at his most powerful and somehow an Irish actor brought the best out of them. If you have never heard Harris in action, spend the modest amount on this album and enjoy.
