I have only just recently made the switch from using Windows for the last 16 years to using Mac OS X Lion and felt a little unsure using Mac Lion. As easy as it is to navigate around Lion I was anxious to find out more about it. I came across this book on Amazon and thought why not give it a try, It does have 930 pages after all.

Now although this book seems quite pricey at first compared to other smaller cheaper guide books it does have a lot more to offer and if you're going to spend money on learning the in's and outs of Lion then the bigger the better in my opinion. I've only been reading this book for just over a week now and have found out things that I may never have stumbled across without it. This book is written very well with clear precise and to the point information (with useful illustrations) that can be read by novices and tech geeks alike.

To me this book has been the best reference resource to help me make the Windows to Mac transition.

Bought this one after some research of the literature available on the topic.

The book is written excellently, the author explaining everything quickly and easily without making any fuss. I am an advanced computer user with a lot of experience and I find the language to be very easy to understand both for computer literate and non computer literate users.

Also the illustrations are quite useful. Excellent to use as a resource book when you're tryting to do something with your system and you're not sure how to do it or where to find it - just check the topic in the index at the end of the book and you get your answers and know-how quickly.

Highly recommend.

Every time Apple releases a new operating system, I 'upgrade' to the newest 'Missing Manual'. These books are superb and have saved my life on more than one occasion. The new Lion version has already paid for itself - a software update left my computer struggling (and failing) to boot, but a quick look through the index led me right to the page with the solution. And here's the quick tip to remember: if your Mac won't boot, just hold down the shift key when you press the power button. Sorted.

This item was delivered quickly and well packaged and, yes, it's a very thick book. I have yet to work through it, but on first glance and being a first time Apple Macbook Pro user, it looks excellent. Well written and easy to understand for beginners and a good reference for more experienced users. It's well illustrated and I believe I'm going to find it a great help. I bought it on the back of buying "The Missing Manual" for my Iphone which was excellent. Buy this with confidence and you won't be disappointed. I believe it's got the edge over "The Dummies" books, although they are also very good and I have used them in the past. Mac computers are completely new to me and this book is exactly what I'm looking for. Well done Amazon again.

This purchase was made as a present for my Dad. Saying that, my Dad LOVES it! He has all the previous Mac OS books by David Pogue and raves about each of them. He uses them as handy reference books too. David Pogue is a real fan of all things Mac and his books are a MUST HAVE for all enthusiasts who not only want to own a Mac computer but understand it too! Nice nod to Steve Jobs in opening pages too- without whom there would be no need for a book like this! Enjoy...

And well done Amazon.... excellent service as usual
