The AVM Fritz! Fon MT-F Cordless DECT\GAP SIP phone is indeed a little gem of a product! I actually have three of these which I purchased to partner my Fritz! Box Fon WLAN 7390 Wired/Wireless Modem Router which I also purchased from Amazon. Together these items make a very sophisticated setup which does much more than most other gigabit modem router/voip telephone products. I have two of these Fritz! Fon MT-F Phones set up for my landline (one serves upstairs and one serves downstairs) and the third Fritz! Fon is configured on my business VOIP line. Setup and linking of the phones was very straightforward with no problems at all. Instructions were perfectly clear and the process continued automatically without a hitch. All phones can have different ring tones and can be selected from within the Fritz! Box 7390 interface to serve only the landlines that you select - hence my setup as just described. All phones can access a common number/contact directory which can be read on the phone display. You can also have several different directories set up if you wish. Each phone lets you know when you have missed a call via a blinking red message key on the keypad. There is so much more you can set up on these phones that they should serve pretty well everyone's needs. I personally have been looking for a way to combine my broadband modem router, my landline telephones, my Voip business line and my Fax line into an efficient, sophisticated single setup and - would you believe it - the Fritz! box 7390 modem router with these Fritz! Fon telephones have done a great job! Software/firmware updates are provided by the manufacturer and these will update automatically once you start the process. In the last update there was an additional choice of ringtones for example as well as other items. Excellent, well thought-out products plus the usual excellent service from Amazon.

This is the second Fritz MT-F DECT phone I recently bought, and, I'm absolutely delighted with them. The call quality is extremely good, and, if in HD mode, it's superb.

This device will also send and receive emails if so configured, I have mine set not to alert me, but, I can look if need be, I had this thought, of it 'pinging' waking me up in the night to tell me of a email, but, if I need to check, I can of course.

It will also stream internet radio stations, I have only found one station currently, that will play and it's great, even better if you plug headphones into the handset.

You'd be wise to put screen protectors on the display screen, as it marks very easy, I now have both of mine protected this way.

My only gripe, and, it's a tiny gripe really, due to the elongated and smooth shape of the handset, it can eaisly slip out of your grasp, as has happend to me on a couple of occasions, but, the device still worked, thank goodness.

Yes, they are very expensive, as is the Fritz!box 7270 that I use, but, I like quality, it usually works better, looks better, and lasts better, nicer to use too.

So, in a word 'quality' if you want one of the best, if not, the best, this is probably the one...............

I had high hopes for this phone. The idea that it would match up perfectly with the excellent FritzBox 7270 router really appealed to me. The rechargeables in my Gigaset decided to die, so I thought I'd treat myself...

What's good...

Your google contacts can magically appear as the phone book.
The display is nice enough, but I'm not sure colour is really required.
Physically, it's nice to hold, good weight.
Packaging, presentation all good.

What's bad...

Woeful sound quality, constant hiss in the earpiece (and that's via VOIP), that follows on to the speakerphone should you use that.
Comes with a europlug. Amazon will not supply a UK one, neither will AVM. Which begs the question, why is it being sold in the UK market?
Other reviews have said this already, this phone does pretty much everything right, except the basic function of being a phone.
Not once did I see the HD icon come on, except when trying the demo. I can assure you that what I heard in the demo, was anything but HD. Crackles, drop outs and pops abound.

If it was £10 from LIDL, you could live with it for the extra functionality. The price reflects a quality that is simply absent from this product, and as such, it has to go back.

So much promise but falls short at every level. The phone comes with a european power supply, not a UK one. So you need an adapter or a new power supply. The build quality is lacking and nowhere as good as market leading Dect phones. The phone buttons don't have the premium feel and are creaky and poor to use. The sound quality is poor and the volume levels are unacceptably low. The range of the handset when connecting to my Fritz!Box 7390 is frankly appaling and the phone starts crackling and breaking up when moving around the house more than about 5 mtrs from the base station.Leave it lying flat and it starts beeping every thirty seconds because it can't connect to the base station. Avoid. There are far better handsets out there for a lot less money
