Great motherboard, stupid layout

Fantastic mobo for the money. Easy to use Bios, seems well made and the black pcb looks good through the case window (if you have one). Dropped one star because the layout is a little strange. As you can see in the picture, the main power is over to the side instead of next to the RAM. Also the CPU fan port is right in the middle of the mobo. Non of these are huge issues, although in my 250D case, it means the main power cable is right up against my H50i cooler. Also it makes cable management more difficult if that's something that bothers you.

Don't use Adaptive Voltage if you overclock

Find it hard to complain. You hear from a few people about often receiving these DOA, myself included although admittedly from a different supplier.

Paired with a G3258 and everything seems to work. Overclocked on stock voltage (auto in BIOS) to 4.2Ghz. Word of warning, when overclocking on B and H motherboards, you CANNOT overclock AND use adaptive voltage BIOS setting, it's a choice of either or.

If you try to use both, adaptive voltage will take presidents and throttle the core clock to stock speed - only Z chipset motherboards can do both. Took me a while to figure this out but you do have the choice of dynamic clock speed and all the other energy saving settings. If you have a low power no overclock BIOS setting saved though for, I don't know, word-processing or some other low CPU intensive tasks, and have adaptive voltage set, with a G3258 you can get the TDP down to as low as 3 when idle.

Paired this up with a Pentium G3258 and it speeds along.

The graphical BIOS is much easier to operate than traditional ones although it can be a bit overwhelming at first with the sheer number of options, especially for the boot choices.

It has failed to see my SSD a couple of times when booting but I have since updated the BIOS and hopefully it will not happen again.

The only frustrating thing is setting the case fan to temperature controlled doesn't seem to be working, it always runs at 100%. I will have to look into that further.

I originally planned for a different, gigabyte motherboard, but had to buy this instead due to delivery complications from CCL with that other one. I am more than pleased with this though, it looks just as good and really has all the same features. I do wish that for the sakes of cable management, some of the big cables (motherboard 24 pin, usb 3.0) could plug in at the edge where the ram is, especially in my corsair 250d case.

Only 4 stars because the retention latch/cover thing for the cpu didnt work 100% correctly, and the black part fell off before I had the latch down. Also the onboard video though the DVI port didnt seem to work but I havent installed any motherboard drivers yet so that's probably why
