I was wondering if this justified a 5 star rating but the quality verses the price gives it the fifth star.
This purple case is much cheaper than the black one and I was a bit concerned that it might be a bit of a vivid colour based on the photos but is is more subtle that the photos depict and looks like a quality product.
Bundled with the case is a touch screen pen and a screen protector. I has already ordered a screen protector from "best skins ever" at $13 so for less than that cost I have a case and pen as well.
The case obviously is the main item and mine had a few bits of surplus glue in places that needed gently removed. The case is not a tight fit and there is some extra space for movement. The cut out for the power and volume switches is on the large size and I'd have preferred a bit more protection around this area. Having said that, the switches are quite recessed and a bit awkward to get at. Though really just a minor problem.
The case switches the Nexus into standby mode when closed and when opened, brings it out of that and on to the lock screen. When the case is closed a second magnet hold it closed. Given the fold in the case lid that allws it to be used as a stand, it doesn't hold it quite as flat as I'd like.
The lid of the case folds back to form a stand. This works quite well for watching video. I have not tried it in the lower mode for keyboard entry.
All in all a great product at a fantastic price. I have minor niggles but you can't go wrong for the price.
Update: The issue I had with the cover not folding as flat as I would like has now gone after a week or so of use. The case has a lovely feel and I still can't believe it is so cheap. I have also just seen this case being sold on its own on another site for £15.95. This just indicates what a bargain this is.
I have seen people complaining that the compass on the Nexus 7 doesn't work correctly in cases containing magnets like this one. I have noticed the compass does not appear to work correctly but as I'm not using it for navigation, it is just a minor issue for me but something to be aware of.
