About the Author

"Dr. Lee J Morrison was born in the UK, in Lancashire, with an Afro Caribbean Father and ancestors from Kenya. His White English Mother was from Derbyshire, with French ancestors, and Viking ancestors from South Yorkshire. Lee qualified for a BA Honours Degree in London, and Graduated from the University of Reading, Berkshire (affiliated to Oxford), with a Master of Fine Arts Degree. Studying also in Paris, Lee taught at the University College London. He is now a PhD. Lee was also a Tutor with the University of Sussex, at Brighton, and at Hastings. Whilst married for 25 years, and living in Brighton, with a Son and Daughter, Lee extended his ‘life experiences’ in other professions. These included Construction, and a very enjoyable time as a Head Chef at a popular Restaurant next door to the Opera House. For several years he operated a successful Landscape Gardening business, and sold and exhibited his own Graphic Art and Paintings on a regular basis. Working also in London Theatres, and behind the scenes at the Royal Ballet, Lee counts actors and dancers amongst his friends. He was a semi-professional singer and dancer himself with several Musical Theatre Groups, a Stand-up Comedian, a Street Performer in St Tropez, and appeared on stage in Tunisia and Brazil. Writing has always been close to his heart, and he has penned poems, songs and short Comedy scripts throughout his life. THE MANY FACES OF APRIL JADE, developed along the lines of a Romantic Detective Story. Again it is based upon elements of reality, but it is a Fictional story of a young attractive woman unable to break free from the dominance of her terminally ill Mother. Whilst caring for her Mother, April successfully lives by adopting different characters, but longs to be loved for herself. She is afraid to reveal her true self to Gerald ‘Jed’ Green in case she loses his love. Jed with the help of a friend and employee Rick (Richard Arnold) embarks upon a private investigation to discover who the mysterious woman really is."

This is not a story about a helpless schizophrenic, nor is it about a woman who employs deceit to hurt others. No, it is a very absorbing story of a young woman unable to break free openly of the limitations imposed upon her by her terminally ill Mother, and circumstance. She adopts various identities to live the life that she so desperately wants in the evenings and on holidays. Some of her identities are very lucrative, so that when the inevitable happens to her Mother Stephanie, April Jade will have the financial means to live a more glamorous life.
When she falls in love with Jed Green a successful entrepreneur however, things begin to change. She is afraid to reveal her true self and other identities, but Jed embarks upon a mission with help of his friend Rick Arnold, to discover who the woman of his dreams really is.
This a relatively short novel with 10 imaginative illustrations. It is dramatic, and humorous, and poetic and very philosophical, probably based upon Lee J Morrison's good knowledge of realities.
