Product Description

This Electric Sitar has 7 Main Strings, 13 Sympathetic strings and a standard 1/4 inch jack slot. It has a volume & tone controls in the front. It produces great electric sitar sound for any fusion band. The sympathetic strings are tuned with traditional sitar pegs whereas main strings are tuned with guitar style geared tuning pegs for ease of tuning. It sounds almost like a traditional acoustic sitar. In fact it can be played without the amp as well. A piezo pickup has been used below the soundborard

I ordered this instrument for my son and on the whole we are satisfied. It is a rudimentary instrument and it is pretty thrown together. But if you take out postage costs and extras it is a very cheap buy so you cannot expect Gibson. The bad bits are the strings which as others have stated are not great and will break very quickly. There was plenty of spares with it and I have become a bit of a whizz at restringing and now the instrument keeps in tune much better than when it arrived. when plugged in to an Ibanez troubadour 150 it is very quiet compared to other instruments. This could be the quality of the pick up or the fact the pick up could be a distance from the strings. At first I thought it did not work at all until changing the cable supplied! It does sound sweet though and could be run through a pa.to up the volume]
To sum up, It is value for what it is. Seller is very honest and coms are very good ( we had a bill come for customs and seller sorted it promptly) Soft case great, hard case bit cardboard but effective , string ropey , book ok , mizrabs fine, cable supplied useless.
For the money it costs it is a very fair buy and if you want to learn sitar its all you need.

Had a problem being charged import Duty when it was paid. My Item was not quite as described as it did have many build faults and certainly was not tuned/setup by a pro.

Whilst potentially this should be no Major issue try going online and finding a way to tune this Sitar correctly and you will see how much aggravation that will cause as these Asian instruments are tuned very differently to most. The book that came with the item was also grubby and soiled but useable for what it was worth in the long run which was not much.

I gave the seller four stars as they were most understanding and helpful with these issues and listened to my hopefully constructive comments. Whilst at the same time doing their best to achieve an amicable outcome that worked for the both of us.

This was achieved but took a little time. However I have full respect for the seller as a caring business man who strived hard on my behalf. I would not hesitate to buy again from here, hopefully the same issues will not happen.

Hello!
I got the sitar 1 month later, and the package does not include all the items as promised, it misses the Amp Cable, the Sitar Book and padded gig bag . I will evaluate the sound with a professional but I am even afraid that this is what it is supposed to be. If not, I would like to return the product and have the money back.

This was purchased for my brother who is a HUGE Beatles fan. He really wanted a Sitar for his birthday, but knew it would be a hard thing to come buy. He was so surprised to receive such a beautiful instrument. I really cant express how pretty this Sitar is. We were all amazed. It cam with 2 cases, a hard and vinyl case, extra strings, and an instructional book. I also need to mention that this arrived to FLORIDA from INDIA in 5 days!!! I did not even pay for shipping. So impressed I would highly recommend this for anyone interested in learning a new craft. Great quality and the price was even better

Thank you for giving my brother a wonderful birthday!

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor fit and finish, not worth the money. 9 Oct. 2015
By Kirinjin - Published on Amazon.com

Poor fit and finish, even for a budget instrument. The back had a gouge in the wood, with similar gouges and/or machine marks on the back of the neck, all slathered with cheap looking varnish. The upper string guide (above the nut) was detached from the neck and gapped out about half an inch. There is no "inlay," but rather decals poorly applied. Corners were scuffed round, notably at the top of the headstock and on the bridge.

The accessories were all included, but all likewise of mediocre quality. The "padded gig bag" was polyester or very cheap nylon with a flimsy crinkly lining -- certainly not worth $30, much less the $60 claimed. The instruction book (see my separate review) was totally worthless.

Maybe I just got a totally different instrument than buyers who rated this higher (I note that BuyRaagini was out of these for a couple of months this summer, and just got them back in stock in time for my order -- new supplier perhaps?). Or maybe the other reviewers were just not expecting a quality instrument. Either way, this is going back for a refund.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! 31 July 2013

The Sitar arrived in an astounding three days after placing my order! I've had stuff shipped to me from this state that has taken longer, so that just totally blew my mind! Also mind blowing is the sounds of this Sitar & what was contained with it ! My only gripe is that the Misrabs are way too small for my rather large fingers, but I happened to have one around already, & most people have smaller hands than I do,so most would have little or no issue with the Misrabs.:) Highly recommended for those who enjoy Indian music,or those just looking for a new unique sound!

Sukriya!

3.0 out of 5 stars missing mizraabs and extra strings 3 Nov. 2013

I got the Sitar within a week and it was packed very nicely. It plays well, however, there was no extra set of strings or mizraabs as promised in the product description. Also, it would have been nice if there was some information about the best speakers for it. We only got a booklet that explains how to play a sitar.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I wanted 31 May 2016
By Saad Siddiqi - Published on Amazon.com

Received this today, I must say that I am throughly impressed by the quality of this instrument. After reading some of the reviews here I was skeptical but I decided to try it for myself and I am so glad I did. It is seriously beautiful, the carving around the lower tumba is deep and well done. As far as the sound of the pickup, I've been playing it though my fender hot rod deville 212 with zero feedback and it sounds great to me. I should say that I am a guitarist and teacher by profession, so I can only make my judgements based on what I know about guitars and other instruments in the lute family. Came in a soft case, was disappointed that I didn't get the hard case that some of the other buyers received. The only complaint I have is that the mizrabs are way too small for adult fingers. If this is for a child then I can say that MAYBE they'll fit but other than that they are unusable for me (24 year old male classical guitarist). Luckily I had some mizrabs already , I also have an acoustic sitar that I purchased in Karachi. Overall a great buy, sounds really good amped and acoustically. I am using this mostly for playing directly into my DAW and the signals look healthy to me at this point.
