Firstly, there is no option to monitor your recordings whilst transferring them to the software! So if you're transferring vinyl and you get a skip, you won't know until you stop recording (usually at the end of each side!) Whoever took that decision is depriving a village of an idiot! Even the most basic audio cleaning software like PolderBits has this facility.
Secondly, when using the spectral cleaner option to try and repair particularly noisy sections, even with an iMac with 8GB RAM and a 3.2 GHz processor, it takes an age to process the repair, much longer than the PC versions - likewise the export option once you've finished takes much longer to export to .wav that the PC software.
I dare say all these issues will be addressed with the next version, but I don't really wish to part with another thirty quid just for the basic requirement of monitoring the recordings as they happen. What I now end up doing is using VinylStudio to monitor and then transfer the file to ACP to clean it up! Rather defeats the object...
Having said all that, there's no denying that once you learn how to use the various options it turns most vinyl recordings which aren't overly crackly and noisy to start with sounding excellent, with numerous options to get the best sound out of your records and tapes.
As the title says though, this could and should have been so much better....

Does what it claims and suits my purpose. On balance, I think it was easier to use on a PC than on a Mac, but then I am not an expert.Published 20 months ago by Clifford Uwins
