“THEY THINK KING IS EVIL, BUT HE’S GOT NOTHING ON ME." -Mack
MY NAME IS MACK. And if I play my cards right, I will soon be dead. Permanently. Not even my powerful twin brother will be able to resurrect me. A good thing. Because a man like me has no business living. Not when I have killed. Not when I have betrayed everyone I have ever cared for. Not when I know I’m destined to do it again.
This is why I have come looking for her—the only one capable of ending me once and for all. But will she think I’m just another insane patient? Or will she believe the truth? I am thousands of years old, my heart too dark to be salvaged. And my name isn’t really Mack.
~~~
MY NAME IS TEDDI, short for Theodora. My entire life has been a canvas of grays, whites, and black. I can’t feel, I can’t understand joy, I’ve never truly lived. Until now. His name is Mack, and though he believes he’s cursed, my degree in psychology tells me otherwise. Besides, someone who’s capable of bringing so much light into my life can’t be anything but good.
But I can save him. If he’ll let me.
Mack's story however was not as good like Kings story, of course it was still good but not as entertaining like the story before. Of course we learned a lot of Mack's suffering and of his curse of love. But I asking myself why the brothers really never speak, to each other. Both try to rescue each other's over and over again, out of guilt of each other and the love goes deeply. But there also completely different like fire and ice. I guess over all this time they both make it worse for each other to live in peace and now King has turned out to get even more cruel as ever and how was he able to come back?.... He took of the ring......and I feel sorry for Mia and fear for there son.
Ok now for the insight of this part of the book.
Mack seeks out a way to end his suffering in finding Thoedora, short Teddy. He checked himself in a clinic for people with problems lol psycho clinic. Where Teddy works as a director, she seems to be a bit weird too in my yes lol because she lost somehow her emotions, something is missing in her life.
She takes over Mack as a patient try to help him. But he awakes feelings in her unable to resist his sexual allure she feels when ever she comes closer to him and she wants nothing more to makes it come true and has no clue why she wants him....
For Mack, is it much harder to resist, to tell her his story. Can he count on her to kill him? That he is able to find peace to take away his pain? You have to find out for yourself, read the book ;)
I only gave four stars.....sorry I missed the thrilling feelings, sparks between the characters, sure they have hot feelings for each other....But something was missing the build up erotic, not to compare with Mia and King.
Mimi has done it again. Although this is a stand alone book, I felt that knowing the King series background, would give more of an insight to all the characters as Mia and King both make an appearance. From the minute I started reading this book, I was hooked. There are twist and turns all the way through.
Without revealing too much- which would be so easy - this is the story of Mack, the twin brother of King, who we met in the King trilogy, and 28 year old Theodora (Teddi for short), a highly intelligent clinical psychologist who has never felt any form of emotion till the day she walks into room 25, turns on the lights and lays eyes on sexy Mack. Mack has booked himself into the the Santa Barbara Mental Health Treatment Centre, where Teddi has just started her new position as the director of the institute, as he believes he needs her to end it all for him. She on the other hand believes that she has to save him - no matter what. Mack has to help Teddi remember, so that she can help him, and all before they find them...
Theirs is a love that expands centuries. Can there be a happily ever after. Mimi says there is another final book after this one where Mack and King finally put an end to it all.
There are plenty of OMG moments and the inevitable 'no that can't happen'. I loved this story and only wished it could have been longer. Can't wait for the next one so that the story can continue.
Well done Mimi. You are truly talented.
This book is the story of Mack and Teddi (Theodora) who runs a psychiatric treatment centre. On first meeting Mack she believes he needs serious help and feels determined that she should be the one to provide it. Actually she is overly protective of him and can't seem to stay away. As he tells her his story, which is actually their story spanning thousands of years, she recalls pieces and gets drawn into his world.
This book is choc full of twists and turns and I felt like I was racing to keep up with everything going on. All the characters, double-crossing, death and resurrections. Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this story and can't wait to read the next one later this year!
Mack has been to hell and back, despite everything completely loyal to King, but is suffering so much pain and guilt and just wants an end to it all. Teddi is the only one who can help him, but King isn't about to let her.
Mack wasn't as dark as the King trilogy, but still a very captivating read. I couldn't guess how they would resolve things and gain the HEA they both deserved. An unexpected twist at the end (and yes, a cliffhanger) is going to make the wait for the next book a long one! I thoroughly recommend this, but definitely read The King a Trilogy first. I loved Mack, want more please :-) five gorgeous stars!!
