All-round good value motherboard

After owning other Asus motherboards in the past and reading some reviews I eventually settled on this board for my new build.

The motherboard was well packaged and came with a nice set of features, offering plenty of expansion and overclocking potential. The nice user-friendly BIOS layout is a nice addition, and the diagnostics LED's and MemOK memory diagnostic button on the board are quite useful for solving issues. The motherboard has good support for DDR3 RAM, and the compatibility with both AM3 Phenom ii and AM3+ FX CPU's is also a nice addition.

The hardware which I am currently running on this board are as follows:
Phenom ii X4 955 @ 4GHz
16Gb's Corsair Vengeance RAM
Asus AMD Radeon 6850
2x 500Gb HDD
1X 1TB WD Caviar Green HDD
generic DVD and Blu-ray drives

Overall, the board has performed well so far and should see me through to my next upgrade when I do eventually decide to put an FX in my system.

Only issue I have found with the motherboard is that the second PCI-E slot apparently only runs in x8 mode, so be aware if you want to run SLi or Crossfire on this board. Also be aware that the motherboard only supports SATA drives and has no support for IDE drives without the use of an adapter.

Good Full ATX Board

Bought as part of a self-assessed bundle this board has met all my expectations. I stuck my neck out on this as I have always gone before with Nvidea chipped boards. Hardware that I fitted to this board are as follows:

Bulldozer FX 6100 socket 6 core processor 3.30GHZ 3.90 Turbo
Corsair 8GB 1600MHZ DDR3 Vengence Memory (2 module kit)
AMD Radeon HD 6850 Graphics Card (Had to replace my 2 NVIDEA 1GB cards) :(
1 Kingston SSD (System Disk)
and 3 Sata II Disk Drives
Corsair liquid cooled H70 cooling system

This has all fitted into a Coolmaster case :)

All in all a nice setup which gives me a 'Windows Experience' index of 7.3

Being experienced in upgrading PCs I had no issue with the installation. But buyers beware of 2 things. Does your case allow you to fit a FULL ATX board and does your Power supply meet the requirements?

BIOs is easy to setup offering both the quick easy setup and Advanced modes.

I made some major changes to my original configuration so my original hard disk with Windows 7 would not boot up. This was to be expected and accepted by me. So an evening of reinstalling everything was in order.

All in all a very nice Motherboard with enough slots to meet my needs.

You cant find this any cheaper anywhere else... It was really good it was my first build and it ran fine as long as you read the manual! I had some trouble because it was my first build and I didn't really know what I was doing and did not refer to the manual as I should of. When you first start it up in BIOS make sure you set a boot priority and then make sure you have your os ready to install if you don't set a boot priority you have to clear the CMOS by removing the motherboard battery reversing it for 30 seconds and putting it back again and then restarting so make sure you set boot priority and have a working os ready. It was my fault not the motherboard. The motherboard is excellent and so is the manual. TRUST ME USE THE MANUAL. Make sure you look very carefully at the diagrams especially for the power switch. All in all a very good product. AND much to my suprise with standard free delivery it came the next day.. on the Isle of Wight !!! Happy days :D

I used this motherboard for my first build as I know that Asus are the Intel of motherboards.

It came well packaged in the official Asus box inside an Anti-static bag with some polystyrene and a metallic sticker that says "Powered by Asus".

This board has a lot of nice features such as automatic over clocking and stress testing which is fully automated at the click of a button, and has LED's for all components allowing you to see which component isn't working very easily.

It comes with a very user friendly graphical BIOS that has lots of features and shows speeds and voltages on the main page, which is useful for over clocking and stress testing.

It also supports FX processors with a new BIOS update which is great.

Hardware:
AMD FX 6300 OC @ 3.7Ghz
Corsair Vengance 8GB RAM @ 1600 Mhz
MSI AMD Radeon 6770 OC @ 910Mhz/1300Mhz
Hitatchi 250GB Drive
Corsair GS700 PSU

This board is cheap but has good support for hardware, such as 6GBPS HDD's and ODD's, and supports up to 32GB of RAM, which means you can upgrade in the future easily.

Only gripe is, as another reviewer mentioned, the 2nd PCI Express slot runs in 8x, which means that CrossfireX isnt a good option, but if you're going to crossfire I doubt you would go with a £50 board.

This dosen't seem to be available anymore, but if you do see one laying around, I can happily recommend it.

this is the motherboard i used for my very first pc build, i have to say i am thrilled with it. no problems at all, the secondary power input uses EATX 8 pin 12v, now while most PSU's come with 8 pin EPS 12v, this motherboard can run from just 4pin ATX connector (most 8 pin EPS 12v have 4 pin ATX detachable) so that is one thing that is important to note. the processor i used is a AMD Phenom II x4 965 BE 3.4ghz, this motherboard supports its perfectly. i have to say i love the amount of usb ports it supports too, overall 10/10

Asus are my favourite company they take quality and user interface to new levels, this motherboard is all you could ever need with AMD. I would recommend AMD to anyone, I have the FX-6100 6 core 3.30Ghz, 12GB of RAM and Nvidia GTX550 Ti, it's not even over-clocked and it will play any high spec game on full even in 3D. It's runs extremely cool and quick, I have dual screens so I do cut a few tiny corners with my desktop but it's not even noticed.
