I bought this book shortly after the TV series finished to fill that unexplainable hole in myself. What was there after MASH. No more 5 o clock charlie, no more hawkeye and BJ winding up Charles.
Every episode covered, look how much i missed. The full series were never shown on television until recently and I cried and laughed all the way again.
This book has kept me happy for many years, full of memories and interviews it covers MASH from series one to the grand finale and everyone going home. Packed with facts, photos and information. A Must for every fan of the 4077th

I loved M*A*S*H* the TV series and this book was purchased for me as a present some time after the series finished its final run on BBC2. I love the book almost as much as the series.

OK so as one reviewer has said it doesn't delve too deeply into the characterisation and instead focuses on the plot lines of every episode; surely thats what we want?

The Complete Book of MASH is well presented and very well written. The photographs are excellent and the interviews with cast, producers, writers etc are brilliant. Even the background stories such as Alda in his car going home at night and shouting ideas to his fellow producers etc. are fun and give an insite into how much effort went in to these fabulous tv moments.

Take my advice, get this book if a trip down memory lane to perhaps the best tv serties ever is what you want.

"The Complete Book of M*A*S*H" includes "reprises" of all 251 episodes, with each season sandwiches by interviews with one of the cast members (e.g., Alan Alda, Harry Morgan) and then a writer/director (e.g., Larry Gelbert, Gene Reynolds), and hundreds of color and black-and-white photographs. A complete list of the Writers and Directors, along with all of the show's Awards and Nominations are provided in the back. The episodes are a bit more than mere descriptions, including choice quotes and getting into what characters are thinking. There are a few mistooks in these "Battle Notes," and better summaries can be found in other volumes, but the best part of this book is the interviews, especailly from those actors who left "M*A*S*H" early (Wayne Rogers and Larry Linville). Certainly the photographs are handsomely presented. This book is a worthwhile addition to the bookshelf of any M*A*S*H aficionado.

Dear Dad. Thanks for sending me the book - it's a bit big to curl up in bed with, but it'll be useful as a weapon if the enemy infiltrates the camp (Radar could use it as cover!). The book is like the food in the mess tent, you have to pick your way through the swill to get to the edible bits. Sorry to say this Dad, but most of it is swill. The main bulk is taken up with the main plot line from each episode. Each season is a chapter and Suzy Kalter has taken each script and condensed it down to small portions. I found this method decidedly unappetising. If you're looking for a quick trip down memory lane this approach is fine, but it doesn't add one jot to the understanding of each episode. I wanted to know more about how each story developed, the problems that the crew encountered in handling the issues that were raised, insider information that we didn't know by just watching the programme. There are good bits Dad, especially the "interviews" with various ensemble members at the end of each chapter. The pictures are great (not as good as Nude Volleyball Monthly, but hey, you can't have everything) and the early part detailing the setting up of the series is illuminating. Isn't it strange that such a large book leaves you with the feeling that there is so much missing? McLean Stevenson, for instance, hardly rates a mention - a serious omission which affects the credibility of the whole book. M*A*S*H was a television phenomenon on both sides of the Atlantic and this book does not do it justice. The Complete Book of M*A*S*H needs to be written by somebody who was there. I'd do it myself but I'm needed in OR. Anyway Dad, I appreciate the present and with winter approaching we shouldn't be short of paper for the stove. Your loving son...

I love M*A*S*H it's one of my all time favorite shows. This book is rare to find now as it's been out of print for many a year. But if you can find it, it's a must have for any M*A*S*H* fans. A dear friend of mine "borrowed" my copy and I sadly haven't seen it since. Plenty of photographs and stories about the show to keep you amused.

When I bought this book at a flea market for 10 dollars, I thought it would be just a dumb book. But, As I read through it, I found it was really interesting and supplied a lot of information. In the beginning it supplies info on the movie(brief) and how they turned it into a show, the real M*A*S*H units, and other stuff that's good to know. The book is mostly a collection of synopsisses of TV shows, sorted by year, by order. One year is a chapter, and at the end of each chapter is a short biography of a charactor. There are an uncountable number of pictures in this book(although most are black and white) that really make the book interesting. I think every M*A*S*H fan should have this book!
