Rodney Yee and Patricia Walden present this twice-a-day yoga workout designed for busy beginners. Rodney Yee presents a daily 15-minute morning workout designed to increase circulation, improve mobility, and bring clarity to your mind, while Patricia Walden leads a 20-minute evening routine designed to quiet the mind after the stress of the day.

I thought it was excellent. The AM yoga session with Rodney Yee is my favourite and is very gentle yet I have found it effective. After a short while I've noticed distinct improvements in my flexibility at my circuit training class which is highly motiviating.
The PM session with Patricia Walden is more challenging but that's good as it gives you more insight into what's needed to progress in yoga practice. The main difference for me between the AM and PM workouts is that a beginnner would need to use props for the PM. It would have been helpful for me to have had someone less advanced alongside Patricia for the PM programme as I couldn't get near to some of her positions but that's a minor quibble and wouldn't be to everyone's taste.
The bonus features are also excellent, there's instruction is using yoga props and an additional workout that allows you to practice their use which is very clearly explained. I'm surprised the producers don't make more of this in the promotional material and I would recommend trying the bonus workout and practising with the props before trying the PM workout. The bonus features also include interviews with Rodney and Patricia which give you an insight into their yogic and teaching philosophies which puts things into context.
This is the best thing short of a class that you could hope to find for a beginner. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of taking up yoga or anyone who feels they need more flexibility to achieve their athletic goals. The latter may wish to skip the relaxation parts. In my lay opinion, it's not suitable for intermediate or advanced practitioners.
There is a third and excellent workout routine if you are just a little too stiff for the extreme poses and need the blocks and straps, which gives a nice variation or bonus. In all, a recommended purchase.
This is the only yoga DVD I've found which shows people how to use the yoga props such as the blocks and yoga belt which are very important for beginners to use or those less supple at first.
No doubt amazon sell yoga accessory kits or if not just look up yoga blocks on google as there are some good value deals.
To do yoga properly you also do need a yoga non-slip mat.
I've been doing yoga for some years and even though I have more advanced DVD's some times its nice to just do something more gentle and that still makes your body feel great which this DVD does better than the rest in my view.
Brilliant! I can highly recommned this DVD.
I dont have a multi-region player and this DVD worked fine in mine but best double check to be sure as I do know there are two regional versions of it.
Can't recommend him highly enough.
I have found this DVD to be one of the ones I use the most, reaching out for it especially at these busy times.
In the morning, the AM routine is perfect for when getting up is difficult: I crawl to the lounge, put on the DVD and in relaxation pose start the breathing exercises, which gently seem to awake me. The gentle stretches really seem to energize me and at the end of 20mins (which go by very quickly) I'm more awake than if I had kept the alarm on snooze for a couple more times. And definitely more chilled out during the day!
The PM routine, though a little more challenging for someone unexperienced in Yoga as myself (it helps if you are flexible) has also been a life saver. When I finish the routine, all the tension is gone from my body and I feel completely relaxed, ready for a good night's sleep.
Even doing only one of these sessions each day, I have noticed a great improvement in my energy levels and a decline in my stress/anxiety levels. I'm more relaxed, happier and get much more done. My patience at work has also increased and I am able to enjoy my time spent in the classroom with the children again (instead of worrying about all the paper work to be done after school!).
