Review

"As is to be expects with Ms Lunch' name attached; the book serves as a provocative guide to setting the mood as well as the table for a rousing three course meal. Written with sass and dripping with sexy personal asides from Mama Lunch, the book is set to be an irresistible addition to every hedonist's library." "Louderthanwar.com

""The book is packed with an intriguing mix of recipes to suit every mood from hearty foods to light snacks to satisfying a sweet tooth. Lunch's outrageous persona, sly humor, and food know-how make it worthwhile addition to spice up any cookbook collection." "Gilmore Guide to Books"

HASH(0x99da4ee8) out of 5 stars GREAT RECIPES! 6 April 2013
By Georgia Conley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This is a book for real people who like tasty food made from scratch. The mix of meat, vegetarian and vegan recipes is how people really eat, without having to be told in glaring headlines. Literally every recipe I've made is a winner. Spicy Pork Roast and Sauteed Spinach with Pine Nuts and Raisins, and I loved Allow Me To Boast About My Roast Chicken.

HASH(0x99ee3ee8) out of 5 stars in which we learn that Lydia Lunch is a good cook 25 Jan. 2015

This is such a good cook book. My first thought upon seeing this was that it was just so cute that she put out a cookbook, so no matter what I was going to have to get it just for curiosity's sake. But then I did the look inside thing with Amazon, saw some of the recipes, was like "whoa" and ordered it immediately. So it turns out that, like most things Lydia does, this is really good. It completely succeeds at what it aims to do, which is strike a good balance between healthy and delicious, without really making any compromises. When it comes to eating healthy, this cookbook is completely in line with my preferred style, which is to eat a variety of quality foods in moderation while not denying myself the pleasure. Everything I've made from this book so far has been delicious and very satisfying, and I always feel like I'm doing something good for myself when I eat these meals. Another good thing about it is that most of the recipes don't require too many ingredients, and there is a very wide variety of ingredients used throughout the book. So it has lately become my go to cookbook; if I have an ingredient in the house that I want to use and don't know what to do with it, the first thing I do is pick up this book and see if Lydia has a recipe that uses it. Today I needed to cook lamb chops, found out she has a recipe for them and I happen to have all the ingredients already, so I'm using it. Two weeks ago I wanted to make fried chicken, she had a recipe for that, too (it was oven-fried, and having never made fried chicken before, I wanted to make real fried, so I modified it and it still came out really good). Also, the proportions are pretty perfect. Sometimes I've found myself skeptical about quantities, but I chose to trust it, because I've found trusting Lydia Lunch is always a good idea, and sure enough it ends up being just right.

And on top of all that, it's really nice having a cookbook written by Lydia Lunch. Because she's wonderful, and when I'm making her recipes, I think of her, and she's always a nice person to think about. And coming upon a bit of her humor amongst the usually dry language of cooking instructions is always a nice surprise, because you're never expecting to laugh while reading a recipe, but here you do.

HASH(0x99d9c45c) out of 5 stars THE NASTIEST FOOD EVER! INDULGE IF YOU DARE!! 8 Dec. 2012
By BRIANNA - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I love this cookbook! IT ROCKS! I eat mostly vegan; there are both vegetarian and meat recipes..but even on the meat ones I can substitute for something else to make it vegan. THIS COOKBOOK IS SO SUPER SPECIAL BECAUSE IT COMBINES DELICIOUS RECIPES WITH SEXUAL ASIDES IN A WAY ONLY LYDIA CAN!! The artwork slash illustrations again aren't typical but WILD IN WAY WE'VE COME TO EXPECT/LOVE FROM THE ONE AND ONLY LYDIA! I must say if I wrote this book; I'd simply title it LUNCH because of the obvious play on words. I RECOMMEND THIS HUGELY TO ANYBODY WHO LOVES TO EAT HEALTHY AND LOVE ORIGINAL STYLE RECIPES. ALSO IF YOU DON'T LIKE COOKBOOKS OF ANY KIND BUT YOU JUST LOVE LYDIA THAT IS DEFINITELY REASON ENOUGH TO BUY IT!! Lydia I have an incredible copy of the original Rosemary's Baby poster that actually shows the baby from a different country and would love to send it to you!! Adrien amazingly turned sixteen and my daughter, Sierra is nine. I love you Friend for the wicked wild woman you are and will always remain..stay safe if you can, you beautiful creature, you!!
HASH(0x99e82234) out of 5 stars pretty fine cookbook - coming from a chef 17 July 2015

this is actually a pretty fine cookbook - even without lydia lunch's funniness the recipes are good from a variety of ways and can be elaborated or substituted, and are really a variety of somewhat posh and nouvelle modern and even vegetarian takes on soul food - i recommend
