I've read all Ms'Cole's stories in this series to date, and I love this Valentine family. While not all earned top 5 stars, it's simply because of my own personal preferences and comforts that affected my rating as the books are written to a top notch standard, and tempt all kinds of emotional responses.

This book was a five star until close to the last chapters.. Enter SPOILER FROM NOW ON.

While I had no issue with what the daughter did, * she was a spoiled little bitch in my book*, I didn't think the author carried it off well at all. It was too fast, too sudden, and the effect it had too drastic in such a small time frame of readable lines and paragraphs. While her skill as a writer isn't challenged because the lady can most definitely write, I just didn't think she hadn't the skill to take on a subject that had a daughter behave as she did in trying to set up her mother's much younger fiance and the mothers instinctive knee jerk reaction which while was right in reality, felt very much that of a woman totally blind to how much a brat her daughter could be and how big a bastard her ex was. While reading it I felt like it was a 'Duh' moment when the h woke up to the fact her H was innocent. It just felt too rushed so the impact never happened beyond a faint eye roll and wanting to smack Mum for not seeing what her daughter was doing. There just wasn't enough time given in that incident to produce the emotion that a plot of that kind deserved even if you were to believe Lukas might be a dog. So a loss of a star for moving too fast on something that warranted better and more in dept coverage to squeeze all the hurt out of the situation.

Anyway to that point it was a the perfect love story...

Ah heck she did it again. How can anyone fail not to love Lukas? He is literally everyone’s ideal man rolled into my glory of a body! His exterior is nothing like his interior, this man can melt dry ice he’s that swoon-worthy! He’s got the perfect mind for romance and isn’t afraid to show and the perfect body for sin and the tats for bad boy lovers amongst us. How can I love all of the characters from Ashes and Embers but I do, each one brings it and brings it with a boom!

And come on what’s there not to like about Ivy? You can’t but help feel sorry for her from the get-go, what her a$$hole of a husband did, unforgiveable, what she then has to live through, the doubt, the lack of confidence, it was all spot on.

Now I hand on heart am not a lover of ‘older woman’ romances, there are a few books though are the exception to this rule and you guessed it, this is one of them. There was nothing immature about Lukas, nothing that would suggest he was only twenty four, he was older than his years and he completely came across like that too.

There are dilemma’s that go on in this book that have you questioning whether you’d do or react the same as the characters, and I loved that. I honestly think I would have reacted exactly the same if it happened to me. The ending is slightly rushed if I’m really going to be uber honest, but the outcome perfect. That epilogue, A-Mazing!

The other thing I absolutely loved about this book was the timeline, oh it was brilliant to be on the same timeline pretty much as Storm in book one. It touched on things we’d read about in the previous books but also didn’t at the same time, as in it was touched on very differently. Brilliantly done.

That’s it, I knew I loved Carian’s work before but yep, I’m a diehand fan of her writing. I 'bluddy' love it, can’t wait for the rest of what’s coming, not sure how I’m going to be with Talon – wink, wink. But oh I bet it’s bloomin good!

I absolutely loved this book, Lukas was a hot, sexy, caring and loyal man and Ivy was a sweet and loving woman, they had their ups and downs but of course everything turned out well in the end. It was such a lovely story and now I don't know which of the Valentine men I love more (is it wrong to love three men at once when you're a married woman?) I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes their romances hot and sexy but I'd recommend you read Storm and Vandal first.

Lukas has been lurking, little snippets of him and Ivy have passed through my hands when I was reading the previous novel, but it was never quite enough, up until now and now, well dang he is something else.
The story is told in tandem with the events from Vandal’s story so if you haven’t read that book then I would say that in order to get a more rounded opinion it would be a good place to start. There are events that you get a second perspective on that you really need the other side of the coin in order to get the whole story.
For me this writing technique also gave an emotional edge to Lukas’s tale. Because believe me there are events that will have you reaching for the tissues!
Lukas has been through so much in his lifetime that it was incredible to read that he was as put together as he is, he is very philosophical in many ways, the things that he has experienced has shaped his life.
It is because of those, he is the most gloriously empathetic man, he has a beautiful soul and a kindness that oozes from every pore.
And it is that, that draws the connection between him and Ivy
Ivy, fought her attraction to the much younger Lukas until she realised that she was fighting the inevitable. They really were super together, she brought Lukas to life and he gave her a freedom to let her spirit shine.
The chat and banter between the two of them was more than I had imagined, he really was relentless but it was so worth it!
Ivy was an interesting character, but I thought Lukas lit the fuse and his love showed her that she was more than she had considered possible. He blew away the cobwebs and together they brought light into each other’s lives.
It was also completely packed with characters that screamed for an opportunity to tell me more.
