I absolutely loved this book, Lukas was a hot, sexy, caring and loyal man and Ivy was a sweet and loving woman, they had their ups and downs but of course everything turned out well in the end. It was such a lovely story and now I don't know which of the Valentine men I love more (is it wrong to love three men at once when you're a married woman?) I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes their romances hot and sexy but I'd recommend you read Storm and Vandal first.

Lukas is my favourite so far in the Ashes and Embers Series.

Ivy mother of two, separated from her cheating scrum husband of 18 years. Is changing her life and checking things of her list, time to get a tat. The tattoo artist is young, sexy, flirty, wise beyond his years and determined to win her heart. But she's worried about the 12 year age gap and not being sexy enough for Lukas. And the biggest factor of all, her two kids that are her world.

Lukas didn't have the best start in life abandoned by his mother, living with old grandparents secluded from the outside world, to be thrown into the foster system, then the good part is meeting all the family he never knew he had, and being able to setup his tattoo parlour with his brother Vandal. Lukas is fed up with sleeping with Vandal's sloppy seconds. Then Ivy enters his life and he knows she's the one.

Will Ivy get over her insecurities caused by her ex?

Can Lukas win Ivy over?

Will they get their HEA?

And then there's Ray OMG he is awsome!

BLOWN AWAY!!!!!!!
Lukas has been lurking, little snippets of him and Ivy have passed through my hands when I was reading the previous novel, but it was never quite enough, up until now and now, well dang he is something else.
The story is told in tandem with the events from Vandal’s story so if you haven’t read that book then I would say that in order to get a more rounded opinion it would be a good place to start. There are events that you get a second perspective on that you really need the other side of the coin in order to get the whole story.
For me this writing technique also gave an emotional edge to Lukas’s tale. Because believe me there are events that will have you reaching for the tissues!
Lukas has been through so much in his lifetime that it was incredible to read that he was as put together as he is, he is very philosophical in many ways, the things that he has experienced has shaped his life.
It is because of those, he is the most gloriously empathetic man, he has a beautiful soul and a kindness that oozes from every pore.
And it is that, that draws the connection between him and Ivy
Ivy, fought her attraction to the much younger Lukas until she realised that she was fighting the inevitable. They really were super together, she brought Lukas to life and he gave her a freedom to let her spirit shine.
The chat and banter between the two of them was more than I had imagined, he really was relentless but it was so worth it!
Ivy was an interesting character, but I thought Lukas lit the fuse and his love showed her that she was more than she had considered possible. He blew away the cobwebs and together they brought light into each other’s lives.
It was also completely packed with characters that screamed for an opportunity to tell me more.

If I'm completely honest their relationship just didn't feel right, and for me I think it was the age difference (ouch I'm know and I'm sorry to say it) and I know these relationships can work as I have very close friends who have been married years and their age gap is quite a bit more than this, she too is the older one, and they have been married years and are still very sweet together, but this unfortunately for me just didn't feel right, BUT apart from that, I am loving this series, I absolutely love all the characters, Lucas Is a very special beautiful man inside and out, Ivy a beautiful lady inside and out, so I have no idea why couldn't I just enjoy them together??? Still giving 4 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Because this whole series has been amazing so far 😊 Oooooohhhhhhhhhh I can't stand the wait for Asher's book! It's driving me crazy 😜 😫

Gifted for an honest review – 4 ½ stars

”I’ve fallen so hard that my heart has a concussion.”

Some books just get to you and some books you just “get”; some books leave a mark on you. Sometimes….sometimes books feel like they are telling your story, maybe not your whole story but they are certainly telling your story. Carian Cole could have written a chapter of my life in this book, and it feels like she ripped open my heart a little. I struggled to push down memories of good times after I had finished and I have to say that the one thing in my life that I took so long to bury, sits painfully at the forefront of my mind these days. When a written story has the power to do that, and do it in such a beautiful way, you’re onto a winner! I have to say right now that I never managed to work into my schedule of reading the first two books in this series before I read this one. I understood that they were linked but that this could be read as a standalone. Yes, there is some reference to previous books but I didn’t get all that lost and managed to follow this story with no problems at all.

I liked both characters very much, with my heart swinging to favour Lukas obviously. Such a gentleman, despite his young years, yet he had that all man appeal which was endearing but sexy as hell. Lukas gave me many big, big smiles throughout this book as he fell hopelessly in love with Ivy. Her life was up on its end when she meets Luks, totally blindsided by her husband of almost 20 years, Ivy needs to learn to live again. She really struggles with the thought of her and Lukas being together despite it being what she wants. The book tells of both their struggles to finally end up where they both belong.
