This film has sadly not been well received by everyone, who seem to be under the impression that this is a poor man's Pulp Fiction or Guy Richie movie. It certainly is a gangster flick, but it is a light weight one, packed with humour and sassy one liners.

Pulp Fiction-in my opinion-was over hyped pretentious drivel, that thought itself nihilistic and hip-and true, so does this film, but at no point does it attempt to take itself seriously, like Tarintino movies.

There is not much point re-iterating the plot line, but it is just a film about mistaken identidy, that has more twists and turns than the motorway traffic during a football game. Some you can see a mile off, but my hint is-don't try and guess, just sit back...feet up...drink in hand...and watch, with a sigh of relief.

If you are one of those pop culture boffins then you may feel you have a right to be scathingly critical about this film. But the truth is that it is a mild mannered and creatively derranged gangster flick-not in the same vein as 'hardcore gangster' movies.

Josh Harrent is a bit of an iffy lead, but combined with such a strong cast, and the forever sexy Lucy Lui, there is not much to dislike.

If a gun was pressed against my head, i would admitt that it really is a three star film, but it so enjoyable, to hell with it. I am unashamedly giving this guilty pleasure four stars.

Impressively cast, well acted, funny and cleverly written dark comedy that is definitely worth a look. Keeping company with legends such as Morgan Freeman, Ben Kingsley and Bruce Willis (who has been taking more and more great roles recently), Josh Hartnett takes the lead in the title role and plays it well. Freeman and Kingsley are as ever faultless and brilliant. Willis is fantastic in this kind of role. The dark, understated, non-action-blockbuster, big cast thrillers suit him well. Keep it up Bruce. To top off this top-notcher, Lucy Lui is looking gorgeous in her role as the love interest. Put it on your list.

For me Lucky Number Slevin is one of the best films of all time and each time I see it becomes closer and closer to being my number one favourite. I love everything from the comedy to the casting - Josh Hartnett and Lucy Liu were a master stroke, I haven't seen such on film chemistry since Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in Mr and Mrs Smith.

The beginning whilst a little slow is still entertaining and much needed to set up the initial introduction of the characters. It more than kept my concentration and Hartnetts razor sharp character was a standout highlight.

If you're unsure after the initial 30mins I urge you to stick it out, many of my family weren't sure if they were going to stick around (2 sex scenes in 15mins didn't help!) but come the end of the film each one left impressed and were glad they didn't leave.

On the subject of the ending the last 20mins where they reveal the twists and turns is probably my most favourite segment of cinema ever story wise (Dad in particular was very pleased they actually explained how everyone was linked instead of leaving the audience to try and guess for themselves as many films do).

I wish there was more films like this masterpiece. If anyone knows of anymore like it please leave me a comment below on my review!

So I haven't seen the DVD yet so I don't know much about the extras, but the movie itself is quite the thing to see. All star cast, cracking story and one of those huge punch lines at the end that leaves the viewer feeling satisfyingly stupid. I can't rave about the movie without giving away the twists and turns, but the idea of Lucy Liu as a rather bubbly coroner, Josh Hartnett at his (dare I say it) current high point (and actually acting!), Morgan Freeman as a mobster with one serious grudge and Bruce Willis finding a comfortable role outside of wearing his John Maclane vest should be more than appealing. Utterly fantastic!

...though you can be forgiven for thinking he was relying on his good looks to build himself a career after seeing some of his other films. I don't know how "Lucky Number Slevin" did in the box office, but if there was justice in the world it should have been a hit. As it is... I sincerely recommend it as a rental.

The dizzying interiors notwithstanding, the plot is slick, compelling, and insufficiently shallow to be dismissable. (And if you're a fan of 70's decor, then the interiors will be dazzling rather than as described.) The acting is uniformly convincing -- nothing less than you can expect from such an impressive cast, I suppose, though disappointments have been known -- and the story twists and turns without falling off the rails of its own ingenuity. The violence can be somewhat startling, but if you're in the mood for a thinking thriller, rent this. Or buy it, if you're a fan of any of the cast. It's a pretty good film to include in their CV's, and the plot is complex enough to warrant repeat viewing.

I got this as a present for my brother, it is not a bad film, but there is little new or exciting about it. If you are a fan of these kinds of action romps then i think you will like this as it is competently paced and has the action sequences that you would expect.
The Blu-Ray transfer is good and the sound is possibly the bes feature of the film in my view with a rich soundscape that in surroundsound can drag you right into the action.
