Product description

About the Author

Luciano Giubbilei established his own garden design practice in London in 1997. Since then he has won three gold medals and the Best in Show award at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. He is known for the understated elegance and timelessness of his gardens, which focus on the harmony of proportion and a unique aesthetic that combines plants, materials, light, space and works of art. Current projects include a prairie garden in Idaho, a courtyard for a leading London hotel and several private gardens. He is a Member of the Society of Garden Designers and a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce. His first book, The Gardens of Luciano Giubbilei, with text by Andrew Wilson, was published by Merrell in 2010. Sir Paul Smith, designer and chairman of the fashion company that bears his name, opened his first shop in 1970. Since then he has become known worldwide as a pre-eminent British designer, producing classic, traditionally inspired clothes with a touch of humour and mischief. Fergus Garrett is Head Gardener at Great Dixter in East Sussex. He worked closely with the late Christopher Lloyd, whose garden it was, and since Lloyd s death has worked with the Great Dixter Charitable Trust to maintain and manage the estate and to preserve its quality and unique atmosphere.
