From the Inside Flap

I visited the Lucian Freud exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, London, last year. This book accompanied the exhibition. At the time of my visit I did not buy the book, but on reflection decided that this was a poor decision. The book has given me a good background to the artist, and an understanding of Freud's particular approach to portraiture and his painting style. It is a valued addition to my collection of books on artists and their work.

For the price paid, the book represents good value for money, given the content and the pleasure it will continue to give.

I am very fond of the work of Lucian Freud's,and I have two excellent books about mainly his work.
One is the above and the other is 'Lucian Freud'by William Feaver. They both contain very many
colour pictures of his work. The Feaver one has a lot more pictures ,but both are fantastic
and offer a very informative account of his oeuvre.

Brilliant publication which coincided with the Freud exhibition at the NPG. Although the subjects are all contemporary for some obscure reason the author decided not to identify them, although some are quite obvious and most of the others can be found given a bit of research.

I ordered two books for my husband (who is a working Artist). He was absolutely delighted with both books. This one gave some background about the Artist, Lucian Freud, and many coloured plates of his work. It was excellent value for the money. Thank you.

This catalogue from the Freud exhibition at the Portrait Gallery/National Gallery (2012) does full justice to both a remarkable exhibition and to the artist himself.
