I rated the first book 3 and found this one a little more enjoyable. Following on from book one, it tells of Luca, a vampire, and Samantha, a made witch. Witches are usually born as such, but Samantha was taken captive by a particularly nasty piece of work, and his magic was infused into Samantha. She has no idea how to control it. Luca had an attraction to Samantha when he saved her from said nasty piece of work. After being left for dead, and rescued by Kade and Sydney(from book one)Luca sets off to find Samantha and bring her back to New Orleans. After a fire, a meeting with Kade's maker, Leopold, and the discovery that Samantha needs to find something that could cause disaster for both vampires and werewolves alike, Samantha and Luca set off to find the amulet and each other.

the story itself was good, and it flowed well, with everything making sense. it was just that up to halfway through, it is raw, and gritty. then after they had sex, it gets all lovely and floaty, the dialogue between Samantha and Luca does, and it was a bit off putting.

while reading these books in order would help, it isn't really necessary, as much is explained about Kade and Sydney, and their relationship, along with Luca's part in their past.

a single multi partner scene and some violence.

there are more books in this series, but I don't know if I will buy them.

LUCA'S MAGIC EMBRACE by Kym Grosso

LUCA'S MAGIC EMBRACE is the second storyline (October 2012 release) in Kym Grosso's slightly erotic Immortals of New Orleans series. Kym brings together an assortment of supernatural powers including vampires, werewolves and witches and writes a sexy, dark and dangerous blend of seduction and magic.

Samantha Irving is a computer wiz and a reluctant witch. With her powers of magic at a virtual negligible level, our heroine takes a long overdue vacation to recover from a recent abduction and introduction into the world of submission and sexual dominance. Refusing to live and train with the coven of witches, Samantha embarks on a journey to recover her memories and discover which path will lead her to her future. But her escort will soon find himself the victim of another attack and Samantha will suffer with the guilt of knowing that he risked his life to bring her to safety.

Luca MacQuairie is a 200 year old vampire who has a dislike for humans yet he found himself oddly attracted to the battered and abused Samantha Irving. Samantha's safety was a priority knowing that someone was trying to control her life, but Luca's life is about to take a dramatic turn when he is bound in silver and his life blood is drained. Without any knowledge of what has happened or who attempted to end his life, Luca needs time to recover and then goes on the hunt for the little human witch who has occupied his thoughts.

I never had the chance to read the first book in the series Kade's Dark Embrace where Luca and Samantha are first introduced.

Wow this book had such an exciting plot It all started when Luca had been attacked and abducted while safe guarding Samantha, who was going to the witches coven for the training of her newly gained skill.
Samantha having reluctantly spent time with the witches, but couldn't seem to connect with her powers, decided to leave. Needing some time to get her head around everything that had happened to her, she just wanted her normal life back. A retreat in the mountains seemed ideal.
Luca was rescued and realising Samantha maybe in danger, he is now on a mission to bring her back, for her her own good, of cause. Nothing at all to do with him wanting to see her again and protect her. Under attack again as the cabin is set alight, but who is out to get her this time ? that is the question.
Lots of twists and turns in this thrilling story as the pair have to battle at times to stay alive and solve the mystery. Their instant attraction heats and takes them both to new heights of pleasure, and through it all the deepest love blooms.
I would highly recommend this series, and I can't wait to start the next book.

Really enjoyed this story too. Whilst you could read independently, you do get something more by reading as part of a series. The journey of the characters, especially Luca is more dramatic, you are familiar with other characters and the introduction of a new older vampire to the story, better if you have read book 1. I won't spoil it for you.

Good book, interesting twist and turns including the romance between the two main characters. A bit of everything in the story and the different types of supernatural genre coming into the action. Definitely worth reading this book and the series
