Product Description

The Phantom Dorsal Night Splint is a sleek, low profile design for comfort whilst worn. There are no bulky surfaces that can come into the opposing leg whilst sleeping for additional comfort overnight. Fully padded internal dorsal stays can be adjusted to increase or decrease the amount of dorsiflexion required, to bring the toes closer or further away to the shin. The sole unit is non-slip and is sewn in to provide increased traction and security if the wearer needs to walk around during the night. Elasticated material sewn under the mid-foot provides additional tension on the plantar fascia (the thick connective tissue which supports the arch on the bottom of the foot). Bilateral design fits right or left foot.

I have bi-lateral plantar fasciitis so I have bought two of these splints for night use. I haven't had any other kind of splint before, because the ones that go on the outside of your foot look so cumbersome and I'm afraid I'm going to accidentally move my legs and kick my other half in the night. I was also put off buying splints that look medical: these look like support bandages so are a bit less intrusive on the old "night life". These splints have the support on the inside of the curve of your foot (the shin) so there's no risk of hurting anyone. They have some anti-slip padding on the bottom to stop you from throwing yourself down the stairs if you get up for a wee in the night.

They don't feel as though they're doing much when you wear them, they're not actually particularly violent in terms of the stretch they put on the achilles tendon, but I appreciate them most in the mornings. I tend to rip them off in my sleep, at around 3 or 4am, which makes a bit of a velcro "rrrrrippppp!" which makes a bit of a noise and annoys my partner. But, when you've previously not been able to walk down the stairs, these splints mean I can practically bounce around so they are LITERALLY changing my life. Occasionally I do up the velcro a bit tight and my toes go numb... but they're easy to adjust and the blood comes flooding back.

At first I wore them every night, but now I only wear them two or three nights a week. I've been able to start walking more and even a bit of running again (taking care not to go nuts). I'm feeling fitter and have lost some excess weight - which was making the plantar fasciitis worse, of course. I definitely recommend these splints for plantar fasciitis, especially if you're like me and haven't tried any splints before.

Hi, Purchased this splint recently, shoe size 91/2- 10 so had the medium. good fit, but near useless to keep foot in the correct position, no matter how well you tighten this up when you press downwards with your toes the rigid front section comes away from your shin at the top up to 50 mm quiet easily. This is due to the strechy foam like wrap around material which is supposed to locate the riged front section, being far to weak for the application, as an after thought they include a small loop to put over the big toe and velcro it to the top of the riged toe piece, I had to remove ot after two hours as it was cutting into the skin on the side of my big toe, I think the addition of this stupidly designed after thought sums up this product, as the only thing it does is lift up the big toe and not the foot as it perports to do. save your money better products elsewere and somewhat cheaper two. I am currently looking for a suitable strap in order to put around the top of this splint to locate it more securely around my shin. which of course this splint should do in the first place.

I got this as I have foot drop and I have found this helpful. However, my leg is quite large and it does slip a bit during the night. I have a foot size 4-4.5 and the split is a little on the large side.

This gives good support overnight, although loses its strength quite quickly over the weeks of wear.
