About the Author

John Bainbridge is the author of over thirty books, including several crime novels and thrillers, as well as non-fiction and topographical books about Britain. He has also written widely for newspapers and magazines. John read literature and history at the University of East Anglia. In his spare time John likes to wander on foot through the countryside. In the past he has gained experience of fighting with swords and traditional archery. He once spent a year living wild in an English woodland – which he says gave him a better understanding of how medieval outlaws survived. Loxley – complete in itself – is the first in a four-part sequence The Chronicles of Robin Hood. Read John Bainbridge's mystery thrillers: Balmoral Kill, The Shadow of William Quest. A Seaside Mourning and A Christmas Malice.

Villains and heroes, swordplay and archery, cunning plans and close adventures. Robin Hood as he used to be and told this way you know why the story has lasted through the years.

Another possible story of a character who has passed into legend and it is very believable. John Bainbridge has obviously researched his subject as far as possible and has presented the reader with a very good story. Roll on the next part which I intend to download as soon as I have caught up with some other books awaiting my attention.

This is an excellent read, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mr Bainbridge paints a colourful and interesting variation of the myths surrounding Robin of the Hood. Even if you think you know all there is to know about Robin Hood, I would recommend this novel, I read it in three 'sittings', it held my attention so well.
