About the Author

Mary Elizabeth is an up and coming author who finds words in chaos, writing stories about the skeletons hanging in your closets. Known as The Realist, Mary was born and raised in Southern California. She is a wife, mother of four beautiful children, and dog tamer to one enthusiastic Pit Bull and a prissy Chihuahua. She's a hairstylist by day but contemporary fiction, new adult author by night. Mary can often be found finger twirling her hair and chewing on a stick of licorice while writing and rewriting a sentence over and over until it's perfect. She discovered her talent for tale-telling accidentally, but literature is in her chokehold. And she's not letting go until every story is told.

I never fail to fall in love with Mary Elizabeth's characters, and Low & Poesy were no exception. I feel this book in my heart and I won't ever forget it, it's ingrained into me and even now, whilst I am writing my review, I am tearing up thinking about it. This is a unique story and one that makes you root for the bad guys simply because they are good people, deep down.

Low grew up on the poverty line, with a convict for a father and his mum and little sister to look after, he always felt like he needed to be the one to put food in their bellies and keep a roof over their heads. When middle class Poesy fell for his charms when he was the lawn boy for her parents, he always knew she was way too good for the likes of him.

Poesy never felt truly loved by her parents, they weren't bad people but she always knew she was different, seeking excitement in her otherwise mundane life.

Now in their early twenties, Low & Poesy embark on a life of constant struggle, trying to pay the bills and living a semblance of a life that is good, that is until they are left with no choice but to fight.

I adored the relationship between Low & Poesy, it was a special and beautiful love that made this story so solid and wonderful to me. No matter what, Poesy would always be by Low's side and she was proud to be there, she loved him even though he had made bad choices in the past and she was not about to let anything ruin their life together.

All Low wanted in life was to be able to give the people he loved a decent life, he loved so fiercely and beneath his criminal mind was a good and kind-hearted soul.

The writing was memorising and written in Mary Elizabeth's unique style that I have come to love so much.

Low by Mary Elizabeth

Low is a criminal but he doesn’t hide that fact. He is a criminal and he accepts that but at the same time he is also trying his best after coming out of prison to go straight but things don’t always work out that way. Sometimes the path that society deems acceptable is just not working for some people.

He and Poe are in love with each other, there is this deep and emotional connection to each other. I for one know that they’re doing something that they shouldn’t but I cannot help but root for these two.

“Even crooks love.”

Mary Elizabeth is an author I discovered a few months ago but this is the book that has made me such a fan of her writing. In the perfect book world, these two would be poor but not criminals. Even criminals are allowed to find love and despite not following the law, their love is still real and true to them.

My heart loves the ending, it might not be the conventional and society approved ending but it was the right ending in my eyes.

Absolutely adored this book. I will be waiting for more from this author!!

4.5 stars!

The whole time i was reading this book felt like a huge adrenaline rush! My stomach was constantly turning not knowing how it was going to pan out.

Low & Poe are the criminal duet that keep you on your toes. Basically the modern Bonnie & Clyde, Happy in love and just trying to do whats best for them.

Both struggling for just a break in their lives that they make some good and bad decisions.

I felt like i was on the edge of my seat the whole time.

Low & Poe don't have it easy and i sympathise a lot with them, they just want to be happy.

I really really enjoyed this book and i can't wait to see if there is anything else after!

Wow! A massive five star read from Mary Elizabeth.

Once I started reading this book I couldn't put it down. The storyline is fantastic, one I won't be forgetting in a hurry.

There is so much feeling in this book you can't help but fall in love with it.

Low and Posey are made perfectly for each other. Criminal and girl next door turned badass! Their chemistry was undeniable.

Even though I love all of Mary's writing, If I were to recommend any of her books it would be this one for sure!

A very well deserved 5 Stars!!

Mary is fast becoming one of my favourite authors but oh she does love to torture her readers. This is the fast paced adrenaline fueled love story of Low and Posey. Brilliant writing , brilliant story that will give you a book hangover but as I said Mary likes to torture her readers.

‘A crime and passion contemporary romance with heart. Bonnie and Clyde eat your heart out. Exhilarating, sexy and unstoppable. A must read!’ – Kelly, Perusing Princesses

To say this book is unique would be an understatement, to relate it to anything else I’ve read is impossible because LOW is completely incomparable. Mary Elizabeth has taken the literary bull by the horns with this one and delivered a hard-hitting, exhilarating and satisfying read that has you championing the bad guys. I love a bad boy and as much as Lowen is the criminal, his girlfriend Poesy is the backbone; the glue that holds their relationship together and one that is absolutely golden. Their love is powerful and sincere and it gave this book the edge it needed, a balm that soothed through the darker times, because even criminals can love.

But sometimes being a criminal isn’t a choice we make, it’s a case of becoming one to survive, such as the case of the young Lowen. Growing up in poverty is never an easy feat, having to steal to survive a bitter pill to swallow but it’s better than starving to death. From his first run-in with the law to a stint in prison, Lowen knows his path in this life is set even though he never wished for it.

Poesy comes from a working class family and hasn’t wanted for much, not until she saw him. He is everything she has ever wanted. Defying her parents and putting her college education on hold, she finds an apartment for herself and Lowen and even though money is tight they do their best to make it work. Love can conquer all, right?!
