Basically you massively reduce portion sizes and you lose weight. So 75g of brown rice plus 60g of chicken and some brocolli and spinach is an example of a meal. So not really sure if the low GL thing is a front and its actually just calorie reduction that's the reason people lose weight on it.

Not my cup of tea and i also think we need to eat more high quality meat not less as Mr Holford advocates.

A great book, explains the principles very easily but found it very hard going. I use it now and again for reference but feel that the 'made easy' book was much better.

This is a handy reference to use on a daily basis when planning your low GL meals. I like the way all the meals are divided into sections, so if you don't want to follow the set menu, you can pick and choose what you are going to have for each meal each day. Its probably best to buy this is you are already sold on the low GL plan, as Holfords other books go into much more detail about why it is the best diet to follow. This one is more practical.

I bought this book on recmmendation from a holistic life coach who reminded me that, having tried every diet in the book (apart from cabbage soup diet - YUK1) and none of them were sustainable or gave the results I was desperately looking for. After 35years of dieting according to Government recommendations - low fat, high carb, I found myself three stones overweight and feeling a sense of desperation.

This book is no quick fix however, following Patrick's principles and adding in good quality dietary supplements, I now feel more positive about reaching my ideal weight. The recipes are delicious, even my hubby says so! Try the chick pea curry which has to be the quickest curry I have ever made as well as being nutritious, filling and delicious. The bolognese recipe is the best we have ever tasted.

Give this book a whirl, what have you got to lose except sluggishness and excess weight??

I bought this book on kindle and the formatting is most of the reason why I am disappointed.
I have never been on a diet but I wanted to feel more healthy and this diet looked the least faddy of them all - mostly as it was backed up by the science behind it so I can understand why I shouldnt eat certain things. I enjoy the science behind it but the author does have a tendancy to repetition which can get a bit tedious at times, but the content is very interesting. I have only been doing the diet itself for a week and have lost the expected weight the book says I will lose. I enjoy the food and dont think it will be a problem following it. The main issue with the kindle edition is that a lot of the tables are very difficult to read if at all and the Glycemic index at the back cuts off the end of the page so you only get half the information and have to manually do all your own calculations. If I was going to buy this book again I WOULD NOT buy the Kindle edition. I would buy the hard copy though and will be recommending it to friends.
