Loving Amber is the start of a brand new series from Roya Carmen. It’s book number one in the Riverstone estates series and having read this one I am looking forward to the continuation of the series. This is the first book I have read by Roya Carmen, and it won’t be the last. What a really lovely, heart-warming story. I thoroughly enjoyed this book throughout and it was one of those stories that gave me ALL the feels. It flowed really nicely, with a great plot and I was engrossed throughout.

In this book we meet Amber. Amber has had a tough life so far with a lot of things happening and dealing with losses that would be enough to send some of the strongest people over the edge. But she’s had to continue, she’s had to fight and keep going, she’s had to survive – all for the sake of her gorgeous son Trevor. I found Amber to be a very likeable character and someone, as a reader, you could really relate to.
In this book we also meet Aiden – he is from Amber’s past. He was best friends with her brothers, friends and herself in ‘The Misfits’ – their little childhood club! Aiden has been dealing with his own nightmares and memories from an event a couple of years ago, but he has always wanted to maintain a friendship with Amber, but that has not been possible.

Amber is dealing with things, trying to move on with her life and wants to move on with the likes of David. He works at their estate and he is perfect for her. He can provide her with the security and support that she and Trevor both need. But when renovations at their estate are required, things start to change, a friendship is rekindled and boundaries are pushed. Aiden and Amber have a lot to work through and she is determined to make things work with David.

Amber always loved Paul from a young age while Aiden always bullied her. But Amber put up with Aiden hating if it allowed her be a part of their group.
But as adults, Amber loses Paul and her brother in the same night, and Aiden survives. As a result, she can't help but put all the blame on Aiden and vows to keep him out of her life.
As time passes and they are constantly thrown together, Aiden will stop at nothing to prove he deserves a place in her life, and is not the bad guy she thinks he is. After all, he only annoyed her as a child because he liked her.
My Thoughts:

From soon on we know this is going to be a story that involves emotions and heart-strings.

Told from dual POV we get an insight into the story from both Amber and Aiden's side. I'm uncertain if I liked this - the viewpoints switched often and during the same scenes and it got a bit confusing that it changed for no reason. I think the story would have had more impact if it was majority the POV of Amber and occasionally changed to Aiden for imperative moments or scenes...

Amber: The poor woman has lost her twin and husband in the same night so I can't help but feel for her. She wants to protect herself and her son and choose the guy who can provide stability and be a good father figure. All through the books she's fighting against her head and her heart. But good grief she certainly pushed and pulled a lot and it got a tad frustrating.

Aiden: He really won me over. He was so sweet and utterly patient beyond belief concerning Amber. I felt sorry for him with how Amber constantly used him.

Do you know that feeling you get when you pick up a book and from page 1 it grabs you and doesn’t let go? Yeah, that just happened to me. I started reading this book at 10am and while doing laundry and stuff, I could not put it down. My Kindle went everywhere with me because I just had to keep reading and by 4 pm I was done. I didn’t know if I wanted to be happy or sad… Happy because this book gave me all the feels but sad because it was over. I fell in love with these characters.

I’ve read Roya’s other books and have loved them but this one…wow, this one just hit me. This one is my all-time favorite from her (for now). The writing was flawless, the storyline was intriguing, the characters were amazing and the emotions, well, they just flowed. I laughed at parts and I cried at parts. I cheered for these characters and I got so freaking angry at them! I can see this book playing out on the big screen. The writing was so spot on that you felt like you were right there in the book, it was easy to picture everything. It has its funny parts that make you giggle out loud and then those oh so heart hurting parts where you aren’t sure you will be the same again.

Amber is a single mom that is trying to get her life together after a horrible accident that took her husband and brother two years ago. She says she’s doing “fine” and ready to move on. She finds the perfect guy to move on with …that is until the man she holds responsible for the accident suddenly turns up back into her life. Can she forgive and forget the past and let go of guilt?

I wish I could give this book more than 5 stars because it truly deserves it. Roya, I can’t wait to read what you write next!
