There was evil to be outdone, really bad evil.
Some good interpersonal issues and a happy ending.
Book2 had more focus on interpersonal issues, which I found a nie change from recent other books with excessive evil deeds and or bad outcomes. read all the good guys die off.
Sucker for happy endings I guess. The wife prefers books this way as well.
There is ample fodder for many other stories set in this world, I hope they get told.
Recommend book 1 and 2. Good storytelling and excellent writing.
I felt similarly about the first book, but that had a more interesting adventure. I was also in the mood at the time to read something light and frothy. Perhaps by the time I had read this, I was looking for something more substantial. I also remember enjoying this type of book when I was younger and perhaps had a different perspective during projection.
