So thrilled to add this to Collections 1 & 2 and eagerly awaiting Collection 4 next month (which are some of my fav episodes)
McShane just is perfect as the exceptionally charming sweet-faced individual, with a shady characters, warm heart and a gleam for sussing out the hidden gem in grannie's attic. Great writing and directing sees these one great series.
For the Yanks - Akia puts out a multizone DVD play for a reasonable price. Check it out and you can enjoy Brit DVDs, too. Plays on your regular telly. Well worth the investment.
This annoys me with other TV series' is why some episodes are missing. I bought Kojak: The Complete Series and the Pilot is missing. Moonlighting has an episode missing. One of the Midsomer Murders Ten Investigations box sets has an episode called Beyond The Grave in Series 3 missing and I've come across some other TV series with the odd episode missing. I winder what is going on. It's bad enough when I start buying a series and I find out only Series 1 and Series 2 or Season 1 and Season 2 are only available. These DVD distributors should stop messing about with the TV series and release the entire lot.
Lovejoy, who is described as "the James Bond of antiques dealers" by the New York Times, is accompanied in this British mystery series by a plateful of guest stars. Joanna Lumley (AB FAB); Burt Kwuok (LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE); Michael Kitchen (FOYLE'S WAR), Michelle Fairley (GAME OF THRONES' Catelyn Stark), Mel Martin, (POLDARK; WHITE HUNTER, BLACK HEART), and Minnie Driver, (GOOD WILL HUNTING), among others.

Episode 12, "Highland Fling, Part One"
Jane implores Lovejoy to travel with her to Scotland's Kilbeg House, a grand estate that's fallen upon hard times under the ownership of her friend, Katriona. The mission is to identify valuable antiques within.
Episode 13, "Highland Fling, Part Two"
When the lady of the house starts the process of selling the estate, Lovejoy and Jane work out an urgent plan to save it.
While using his wit and charm to buy/sell, and help solve the various mysteries/problems that come his way, Lovejoy also enjoyably scours the salesrooms, auction houses and stately homes of Britain, all ensconced in beautiful scenery. There's no violence, no blood and gore in this popular, saucy entertainment, and only the most respectful of sex. I never missed this show when it was on A & E, and am very happy to have it on DVD. Recommended.
Think nostalgic sunny Sunday tea time telly and you have Lovejoy.
Mostly very good with a just a couplke of below par episodes.
