I have to start by saying this author is my 'go to' place for a total enjoyable read and vibrant characters who jump from the page. I have read almost all of Susan's books now, I really love her writing style and I feel guaranteed a gripping read. This book is no exception and the characters especially, I was totally in love with. I can sometimes forget some of the names but not with this. I fell in love with both Eddie and Gideon, Leslie was something else, making me laugh..and Taylor really intrigued me. I hope there is more of these guys in future books of this new series. I have been struggling lately, with books that I haven't enjoyed..and this author is like putting on really comfy slippers when my feet have been hurting! (...I mean that as a compliment).
Now for the reason why I didn't give full 5 stars....
If I was just rating the first half of this book, there would need to be more stars than the five!!! because I was hooked and totally in love with the characters, the setting and the story of Gideon's past and how he is now effected.
However...the latter half of this book, while I still enjoyed it due to the sheer talent of writing with this author, was not as detailed, and fell subject to one of my pet hates in reading. The skipping of time and then skimming over events that have happened in a past tense way. I was left wanting the details of how this relationship developed after they ultimately got very intimate. The first half brought conflicts and showed the detailed journey towards the very hot intimacy between them, but then afterwards, days and weeks were skipped over much to my dismay. I wanted to see more scenes of Eddie helping Gideon deal with his nightmares and other issues.

Oh this book was fab. It had all the familiar ingredients of a great Susan Mac Nicol novel; engaging characters, humour, good storyline, fun, angst, grit, and loads of hot sex. Eddie & Gideon were both characters of substance while Leslie added the hilarity and Taylor the drama. Luke's story was an interesting side plot and there is clearly list more to come with all these guys... Wonderful start to what promises to be a fantastic series.

Susan's writing is outstanding...she creates three dimensional characters and puts them into a detailed story arc which engages the reader from the outset.
This is the second novel of hers that I have read, and I was not disappointed.
The story is wonderful. The individuals within it have good back stories and Susan deftly links them all to bring the reader an interesting tale of fear and love.
Well worth downloading.

Sensationally EPIC!! Yes I loved this read. It really had it all. Great story, hot sex scenes, loveable characters, hilarious moments. This really was a fantastic story of love even though I'm still laughing at Leslie, one of the characters with her ring of salt. Seriously you must read this, well if you like the M&M genre. Anyways let me tell you about Gideon and Eddie, two great guys. both very loveable. Gideon owns his own restaurant, sounds very up market. He used to be head chef in the kitchen until something tragic happened. He misses being a chef. He's become grumpy, moody, uptight, let's just say he has he's reasons but he's also very stubborn and refuses to seek help. Eddie, awwwww I love Eddie. He's a happy go lucky lad, fun to be around, has a heart of gold. He now works in the kitchen. Which means Gideon is his boss. Eddie is a master chef, people rave about him, which kind of makes Gideon jealous. They both like each other but being employer and employee is never a good idea. Thank god for interfering woman lol. Carmen and Sarah who work at the restaurant can't help but put Gideon in his place. Good job they are friends, not sure anyone could really speak to their boss like they did. Taylor and Leslie are Eddie's room mates, they sound like great friends to each other and have a blast. Jerome and Andy work in the kitchen, they all get along, ribbing each other, going out clubbing. Gideon is real lucky to have such a fantastic work force as well as great friends working for him. This story is fun and loving, it's left me wanting more. Thank you Susan Mac Nicol for not only a beautiful story of love but bringing laughter into my day. I would love a book on Leslie. OMG it would be hilarious.

This is the first book in the Men Of London Series and its a total GEM of a book.

Susan Mac Nicol is magnificent at introducing all these new characters in what promises to be an exceptional series.
In this book we are introduced to Eddie and Gideon, physically they couldn't be more opposite but they have a common interest, the Love of Food and Cooking. Unfortunately Gideon was subject to a terrible accident and has lost all sense of smell, ironic for someone who is a chef and owns a restaurant; enters Eddie, his talent in the kitchen is one to admire if only he wasn't so clumsy =), however there is something else brewing and sizzling apart from food and soon these two unlikely characters will be raising the kitchen temperature and not by cooking. Unfortunately old wounds resurface and sometimes is hard to leave your past behind.
We also meet some of Eddie's friends and can't help but to fall in love with all of them.
A really enjoyable storyl, this book was better than a meal at Le Manoir. It had the perfect entree, a wonderful main course and the sweetest of desserts.
I thoroughly recommend it to all lovers of M/M romance.

5 Sizzling Stars
