I didn’t see the last little surprise until almost seeing it written on the page.
Sometimes love is standing tall
Sometimes love is a feather
Sometimes a cannon ball
But it's worth fighting for (it's worth fighting for)
Baby, sometimes love is war" -American Young
This song kept playing through my head as I read Cary Hart's book. This is the first book of hers that I've read and I liked it very much. I loved Aubrey and Drew. Aubrey is a strong single mother. On a night out with her best friend Niki she meets Drew. They go their separate ways but fate has them met again and this time Drew is determined to not let Aubrey get away. Everything is going amazingly for the two and then their worlds get flipped upside down. Aubrey stands strong through all the pain and craziness and proves to Drew that their love is worth fighting for. It may not be an easy journey but she's all in and not willing to give up.

Aubrey posses tenacity and it shines in everything she does. It is my favorite quality about her. She is determined to be a great mom, business owner, and overall boss babe. With all of that ,she will still take moments to feel the disappointment in her life, cry, but then put her big girl pants on and conquer what she is after.
Drew is incredible. Every time I read something he said I could hear his deep voice in my head. The love he has for his family is immeasurable. He is headstrong in the best possible way. He loves to take care of those around him, but with Aubrey, for example, he respects that she CAN do things on ger own. I just loved them.
Now, there is a twist and I won't say much about it except my jaw DROPPED. I got defensive. I might have even said "noo, no, nooooo' to my kindle. I could tell you to read this book just for the craftsmanship that went into the twist, but then I'd be missing every dynamic this story holds. Love, Family, deceit, and awakening. This is one that will tug on the heart strings of everyone!
Since this was my first time reading anything by Ms. Hart, I really didn't know what to expect and the synopsis was light on information. Zero time was wasted in getting the reader pulled in to this story, which is something I truly appreciate!
A quick recap of the story to give you some idea of what it is about...Aubrey is newly divorced and trying to find her way back into the dating scene. She struggles a little bit trying to figure out how it all works while trying to keep her daughter her priority. Enter Drew, an almost divorcee who stumbles upon Aubrey. Drew's marriage wounds are still fresh, some not even closed. Meeting Aubrey wasn't in his plans, but when he does, something about her pulls him in and staying away just isn't something he can do. The two will navigate single parenthood and a new relationship while trying to meld their families together...all the while trying to dodge obstacles and deceit.
The little girls...I loved them! They made this story so endearing and full of life and energy, while their parents brought the heat and passion. Love War gave me everything I needed. I laughed with the little girls and cried with their parents. I got the full range of emotion with this book.
Love War is told in first person POV, alternating between Aubrey and Drew. The time it took to read was a little over 3 hours, which is perfect. It is full of fun, love and drama!
Because it hit all of my must haves in the emotion department, I am giving Love War 5 stars.
I loved the quick emotional headings as they gave us an insight into each changing moment in Aubrey's life and how she was handling it. I've never read anything written quite like this before. Ms Hart's heroine was a tough and broken woman who had more strength than even she knew. He hero was sexy, strong and passionate. I fell in love with her characters the moment I opened the book. There were moments that made me laugh out loud and moments that brought me to tears. I love a book that makes me feel. I can't wait to see what else she has in store for us.

After and during a divorce each person involved has to learn to live with the new direction of their lives and the lives of their child. You have to learn to find your footing in all walks of everyday life. You will all stumble and even fall until you get your footing. Love War is a perfect example of finding your way and moving on. Cary Hart is a writer that draws you into her books. You will feel the emotions of the characters as the tale unfolds. You will absolutely fall in love with "Love War".
So many plot twists, I couldn't put the book down! Just when you think it's at a high point, it breaks you down. Then it turns around and gives you strength, and builds you back up that mountain high.
So much love, so much pain, and so real....
Any woman who has children, has had a broken heart, been through a divorce, and questioned love, strength, or trust...Cary Hart, you are amazing, I absolutely love you!!...and Drew, God I love Drew!
