what i really liked the most about this is that it was real. This is how couples really are, Its a book, and its fantasy, but it wasnt all about the perfect alpha male and the perfect female ...It was about a real couple, and real problem, and making real mistakes and getting a real second chance with each other and real love. It wasnt far fetched at all.
Olivia worked as a waitress in a diner. it wasnt some glamorous job, but it was a job. she didnt work full time and have a career so she really didnt understand what it was like for her husband to work two jobs, very important jobs, as he was a cop and was in the military, so she spent a lot of their marriage being resentful of the lack of attention. This kind of stuff really happens in marriages and i love how this was portrayed. I didnt really like her in the beginning. It made me feel like she was selfish to not understand the importance of her husbands individuality through his work. To me, it made her seem like a whiney pain in the a** who wanted to argue all the time until she got her way. Only toward the end when she realized what he went through after having a full time job of her own, did she become a better person for it and begin to really work at having another chance with a man she never really fell out of love with,
Rafe is all kinds of sexy, and isnt afraid to say he messed up in his marriage. He wants his wife back and will do what he needs to do to get her back. Again, his character was very real and he made very real marriage mistakes and sometimes more mistakes as he was trying to win her back.Read more ›
Olivia and Rafe had a whirlwind romance and were married fairly quickly with Olivia moving to live in Rafe’s hometown where he is a police officer and voluntary soldier. The adjustments they had to make - her moving to a new town, his busy work schedule and both fitting into living together and being married had major impacts on them. So much so that the pressure built up along with interference from his mother that lead to words being spoken in the heat of the moment that lead to an unwanted and hurried divorce.
Neither have been able to recover in the two years they have been divorced and both still hold feelings for each other. They still see each other every day at the diner where Olivia works and after a misunderstanding when Rafe brings in a woman with him to the diner early one morning, it brings to a head that they both need to work at getting back at what they had.
The storyline is then taken along with the romancing of each other again and getting back what they once had and more. They have both learnt from their past mistakes and with time now on their side they realise what they once had was special and for them no one else compares. They are ‘it’ for each other. They start to understand for the give and take needed to build a strong marriage. Between the sheets has always been their strength so when everything else starts falling into place they are unbreakable.
This was just so gorgeous to read and fall into the storyline. I loved both characters from the start. The sexy times were just scorching and hot to read.Read more ›
