1985 Psych Pop boom I completely missed the first time around, so when this unexpected surround release appeared I thought in for a penny.., being a surround fan.
What a pleasant surprise, a great album with some cracking non-album extras. Interestingly the original stereo mix was only done at CD sampling rates 16/44.1 so what Neil Wilkes the re-mix co-ordinator (and band fan) has done is go back and re-create the stereo mix at hi rez sampling rates. So if you want the original Stereo mix then CD is as good as you will get but the new mix on this pure Audio Blu ray is the only truly Hi Rez Stereo Mix.
Neil and BJ Cole have also created a very good 5.1 mix for this album, with The Dog-End of a Day Gone By, Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven, and Pink Floyd Cover Lucifer Sam being highlights.
The menu is fuss free with the disc authored to start with DTS 5.1 MA but with hot buttons so you don’t need a screen to listen play the album if you want LPCM press yellow for instance.
This is one of the unexpected surround releases of the year and one of the highlights for me.
- Note: Blu-ray discs are in a high definition format and need to be played on a Blu-ray player.
