Love Reflection follows the story of Pea and Conner. They loved each other in the past, but circumstances took them on different paths. All was not as it seemed, but lines had been drawn, heartbreak was caused and all that remained was friendship. Even if more lingered in the background. “She’s mine. She’s always been mine. I’ve just forgotten for a bit.”
Pea has secrets, like many people but hers are bringing her down. She is down on life and pushing the remaining few people that she has left away. She is carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders, she carries a lot of blame and she needs someone to snap her out of it. Enter Dane, Dane is an all-around nice guy. He is the type of person much like Conner and Saul that you want as a friend, you would be lucky to have them. Dane needs Pea to open up and see that she isn’t the person that she is viewing herself as. She is more than that, he wants her to stop the blame for the past and also the blame from what happened with Saul. Opening up to Dane is surprisingly easy for Pea, which comes as a shock but one she needs. “Pea, you can trust me. I’ll always have your best interests in my thoughts, before anything else when it comes to you.”
Conner has loved Pea since he has known her, she is it for him, or at least he wants her to be. But she has closed herself from him and put up a guard. One night in the past has caused pain for all involved. It not only caused a breakdown of a relationship, it caused a strain on a friendship and secrets to be kept. Conner needs to move on from Pea, if she can’t open up to him then he needs to move on. He moves away with work, but things happen back at home that cause him to reassess what is important and what it is that he wants.Read more ›
Pearson ( Pea) has loved Connor almost all her life and at points through her life they have been in a relationship but during those times fate was not on their side. Pea now finds herself without the family she loved and the love of her life. Enter Dane ( he is one sexy mother f**ker) he helps Pea out of her funk and encourages her to start enjoying life once more. Pea feels a strong connection to Dane but is unable to put her finger on what it is and Dane harbours a sercet that could blow their friendship apart.
Pea is also keeping secrets from Connor, sercets so bad that she fears he will never be able to love her again !
This is a book of sercets and love, how they bind people and can potentionly break them and how they react to them. Intinally the story centres around Pea and Connor but we get insights into the life's of the others in the group which gives a depth to the story. There are many twists to the story keeping the reader on the edge of their seats, I'd like to say I guessed some but I'd be lying !!!!!
One of the things I like in a book is a good amount of banter between characters and this book has it in spades the conversations in this book had me laughing out loud ! There's a mixture of warmth, love and laughter in this debut novel making me eager to read more from Maria Macdoanald
Pea, Con, Soph and Saul, have all grew up together. They've all faced hell and had to rebuild their life. For Pea and Con they've been friends and lovers. They have to put the past behind them to move forward.
A really good story. I look forward to reading book 2.
Sadly unlike other readers I found Pea shallow, selfish, inconsiderate and immature.
