Heist comedy caper starring Pierce Brosnan, Emma Thompson, Timothy Spall and Celia Imrie. Middle-aged company man Richard Jones (Brosnan) is all set for retirement - or so he thinks. When he arrives at work for his last day and finds that his pension fund has been stolen through the fraudulent workings of Vincent Kruger (Laurent Lafitte), the man who has recently bought over the company, he enlists the help of his ex-wife Kate (Thompson) to help get it back. The two set off for France with their friends Jerry (Spall) and Penelope (Imrie) who agree to help steal Vincent's bride-to-be's diamond necklace which they feel will fully compensate for the lost funds. Can they track Vincent down and secure their future?

I thought that the rating of 12 (13A in the US) was about right. There was some minor bad language, and one or two instances of ‘strong’ language which weren’t too obvious. There were hints of bedroom scenes but nothing explicit, and some brief implied nudity that was quite amusing.
I think one has to be in the right mood for this kind of film; don’t expect anything thought-provoking or deep, and accept the silliness for an attempt to entertain.
Recommended if you want something light-hearted and fast-paced, and don’t mind some silliness and low-key slapstick.
No real extras; there are some interviews with the main cast but they were, frankly, rather dull.
I could go on about how fun the film is and the witty writing, but my favourite thing about this film is the casting. Watching top actors act in a fun, quirky comedy brings me so much joy. The two to look out for are Emma Thompson and Timothy Spall who are usually quite straight, serious, incredibly good actors but have such incredible comedic flair and are definitely not afraid of looking like complete plonkers. Emma Thompson was just sensational with her hilarious hijinks but also manages to hold the seriousness of the miserable, bitter character.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film because it is just so much fun to watch and helps feed the idea that you are able to do anything you want, no matter how insane it is, as long as you're determined enough and have friends to support you.
that much so that I watched it twice on a row, love the characters that they play, they are portrayed brilliantly!
I love the relationships in the film and the people who play them are amazing!
I was totally in awe, the laughter, loving relationships.
The storyline is very excellently written, and totally addictive.
The first class cast bring out the best in a script which was at times a bit shaky to deliver a pleasant and entertaining light hearted film.

My teen daughter and I enjoyed watching this lighthearted comedy although it's not a very strong storyline.
Just a bit of fun
