A controlled cop is captured by the man he is hunting for heinous crimes, but Yugo's conviction of his own self-worth, the rightness of what he's doing, makes for compelling reading. After all, if it wasn't for him Kuon would be dead, a moulding corpse in some dark alleyway. He saved his life, so now, the cop is his to do with as he pleases.
if you like dark m/m this is a phenomenal read, if either dark or m/m isn't your thing, be warned.
This is a new to me author but I thought I’d give it a try as the blurb sucked me in. Never mind the blurb, the whole book sucked me right in.
Detective Kuon Leiris was trying to bring down a crime organisation when he was captured by ‘Black Duke’ Yugo.
Yugo is obsessed by his possession. Kuons strong will is put to the test by Yugo.
Be warned there is trigger warnings with this story. If your like me and you read stories that have warnings then this could be for you.
This is a really well told dark m/m read that will stay with me for a long time. I’m so looking forward to reading more from this author.

Kuon is a detective in the Organized Crime Unit and he had been put on the case of The Three Kings he especially was interested in the Black Duke who's real name is Yugo he's into anything you name it he did it Yugo is a person that no one ever wanted to cross and Kuon had become obsessed in trying to catch him to only get caught himself and now he's in a fight for his life.
When I started reading this I wasn't sure just what to expect, but as I got more into the story I could feel Kuon slipping into despair as he starts developing Stockholm and even though his mind knew it was wrong his body had other ideas as Yugo uses him like a toy, but thing's are only going to get worse if he doesn't find a way to get out. I absolutely loved this story the way it pulled me in with the suspense I was wanting to help him to figure a way to get out. This book was just sooo freaking good it is dark and it is a M/M read. There are trigger warnings and if this bothers you then it's probably not your cup of tea, but if your into this you definitely need to read it. I definitely can't wait to see what he has coming next.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
I do not know if I am angry or heartbroken - this painful ache I have encompasses a few of the characters
Yugo has no true knowledge, or maybe I should say experience, of ,or with the actual act of true love - his beliefs are so warped that he believes he is in the right and what he is doing should create a bond between him and Kuon - he is playing so far out in left field I question not only his ego but his psychological state
Then there is Kuon - so strong yet so lost - he fights with everything he has to keep his heart and soul intact
This is a wonderfully developed beginning to a series I am so looking forward to reading - Love of the Egoist is one of those stories that truly brings the reader in allowing them to become a part of the story -
My heart broke for Kuon as well as for Yugo - and even some secondary characters (No spoilers) - I need book two now
It's a dark romance with a twist. Not for the faint hearted. It's my first Stockholm-syndrome MM book, it was something new..that's for sure. And not in a bad way ;-)
However, I'm not sure what to think about Yugo...he was ruthless, arrogant, and cold hearted. Which, he should be because of his position as the Black Duke.
But when he started to soften towards Kuon, he didn't think it was a crush or even love. I thought he acted a bit childish. He couldn't understand why Kuon didn't wanted to stay with him..
We don't get to know much about either characters background or history. We get to know that Kuon works as an detective in the police force. And that he gets very obsessed with his work. He is a strong man both physical and psyche. But he is young, so he is a bit of an hotshot and overconfidence and that's how he gets caught by Yugo's men.
And of course it contains some really hot and steamy bedroom activities!
A twisted tale that will mind F*&% you to the very end!!
The story centres around Kuon, a cop who soon becomes a captured man, by no other than the one he was hunting "The Black Duke" Yugo.
When the hunter becomes the hunted
What follows is a story line that will have you, rooting for either one of the two main characters, as depraved as it gets, I simply couldn't put it down.
Nero Seal has done an exceptional job, with his descriptions, and writing in the characters POV in my opinion really brought the characters alive, and gave me, the reader a better insight not only into the characters but the story as a whole.
Love of the Egoist (Egoist #1) is a dark, Erotic MM Thriller, would highly recommend to readers who enjoy these genres.
Now that I got that out of the way let me tell you that, new to me author, Nero Seal did an amazing job with this book. So much so that I never saw the ending coming, he had me guessing until the very end on what would happen and it totally blew my mind. This will not be a long review because I do not want to give anything away so just know that there is a LOT of sex, some of it non-con or dubious that quite possibly will have you cringing, and there is a bit of a love triangle, which had me scratching my head at times trying to figure out what exactly was happening because at this point there is Stockholm syndrome which had me rooting for Kuon and Yugo to find their HEA and then there is another guy, Mio, who pops up out of nowhere that loves Yugo and wants him for himself. Anyway, I cannot wait to read the next book in the series to see what happens after this crazy, crazy ending.
I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves a good DARK MM read. Grab it now while it's specially priced for the release at only .99 cents. Happy Reading!
