Thank you to Candace and Sonya for letting me be part of this tour. I’ve previously read Sonya’s book The Summer I Fell and ADORED it. I have End Note and If Ever I Fall on my TBR pile and reading this has just made me want to bump them right to the top.
This book follows Maggie and Phillip on the epic journey of love. Maggie is a red headed girl who lives life to the fullest. She spends her days doing whatever makes her happy and never turns down an opportunity. Phillip on the other hand spends his days following whatever schedule his mum has planned for him. His life is about pleasing others before himself. That is until he meets Maggie.
Maggie shows Phillip the life he could be leading. Shows him everything he’s been missing out on and once he starts he doesn’t want to stop.
This book is extremely well written and will have you laughing, crying and sitting on the edge of your seat frantically turning the pages to see what happens next. Each chapter is written from either Maggie or Phillip’s perspective. I enjoyed this because it allowed you to get into both of their heads. I especially loved the chapters of their letters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and hope to see a lot more from these two talented writers.
I have nothing against a man that respects his mother – but Phillip has yet to shake off the spectre of a woman that does absolutely everything for him. He never questions anything she asks of him and at the age of eighteen I have to say he is a rare commodity but what happens when this golden child meets the sort of woman that his mother would never approve of – well wouldn’t you love for me to tell you!
Maggie, has a spirit that Phillip could only ever dream of, she is cut from a very different cloth but there is something about this cheeky roller-bladed whiz that has his interest piqued – although he knows that his chances of ever bumping into her again are remote.
Maggie on the other hand is quick to make a judgement of Phillip, she has seen his type before, wealthy, well to do mummy’s boys who expect the world to stop turning if they say so, well her merry-go round stops for no-one but her and she refuses to play by normal rules and she certainly isn’t ready to give Phillip the time of day.
But when they seem to spend so much of their time “accidentally” bumping into each other they are both surprised by the easy friendship that forms between them. So when they eventually get a handle on the fact that they are both feeling more than they had anticipated for each other, they accept the inevitable and arrange a date.
The relationship that blossomed between the two of them was beautiful, they were a very special couple and that the depth of feeling certainly came across the page.Read more ›
The introduction of the characters cleverly highlighted their differences, and their meeting was a blessing because it opened them both up in ways that neither one would have ever expected. Phillip was closed off from new experiences due to his strict lifestyle, while Maggie, although wild and free, was just as closed off because she felt opening her heart would mean giving up her freedom. Their love for each other gave them the courage to take that extra step, and even though it came with some pitfalls it was worth it in the end.
I loved how the story developed, from their first meeting and the blossoming of a wonderful relationship to their continued communication through written letters. It added to the romance aspect and made this book more intimate.
Of course, no romance novel can go without some drama and Sophia was front and center when it came to that. Although her actions and everything that followed was a little predictable, the great thing about romance reads is that even though you kinda know how things will turn out, it doesn't stop you from cheering for your favorite characters to finally find their way back to each other.
It was a true pleasure spending a few hours with these amazing characters. I loved every second.
