This is the third book from this amazing author and I have to say, it is by far the best. I love the other two, but I can see her progression as a writer in each book. This book is much different for her, its darker then her other works and so much more emotional. This book will stay with me for a very long time. It amazes me how she can take 26 simple letters and create such a beautiful love story.
"I have loved you for as long as the ocean has rocked, for as long as the sun, the moon, the stars have been it the sky. I have loved you longer than any of those things combined. I will love you even longer"
Lotus Blossom Lane is the next step on Layla and Michael Roberts’ journey. It sees them through their wedding and honeymoon. It’s an emotional journey, one that brought me to my knees a few times. I had to step away for a period of time to come to terms with the emotions and parallels to my own life this story evoked. Daniel and Eliska’s story is so beautiful yet tragic, but so well told, I had to remind myself that it is a work of fiction in order to remain calm.
"When you love someone," he said, gently running his finger up and down my cheek, “you'll do anything in the world to keep them, to make them happy. Love can make a man do crazy things. I'd do just about anything for you."
This story is a true love story. It has romantic love, love of parent and child, family love and “brotherly” love. It tells of a bond so strong, it transcends blood lines and space to draw two people together from worlds away. This book is a work of art that I would love to frame and hang in my home. Annie Rose Welch makes me believe in the beauty of true love and I long to meet my angel. Thank you Annie for this incredible book, I give Lotus Blossom Lane 5 stars and anticipate the next book in this series.
Ms. Welch describes things with such passion and detail you can close your eyes and be transformed into the scene and moment. You are lost in her words. Words so dynamic that it is hard to stop reading this book and series.
So Michael and Lotus get married and are off to Ireland. There wedding is enchanting but their time in Ireland is a game changer. Here they find the past laced in their future. Lotus begins to understand Michael and his feelings but this is done through getting close to his grandmother in her dreams. unfortunately that comes at a emotional cost that is high. As the story of Michael's family comes out, decisions are needed to be made and love is at the forefront of it all. Love caused the heartache to Daniel. Hatrid caused the destruction of many but this was laced with love as well. The legion of Angels is finally understood and Michael is set about to make a decision. While this is occurring Gabriel comes into the picture and is lost. With Michael's help though he begins to see light and has a family again via Michael. Michael's love is tested continuously but he never falters or wavers for it is the love he has for Lotus that is his driving force.
A beautifully written, emotionally charged and entrancing book. If you haven't begun this series I strongly urge you to pick it up you won't be disappointed.
Annie Rose Welch has this style of writing that is poetic and just so beautiful. She takes your breath away with the descriptions of places and scenes and her books are just haunting. There is this light otherworldly quality to them, magical but not from magic. They will stay with you. They will make you think is there something else in play here?.
Lotus Blossom Lane. Where do I start with you? The cover is absolutely gorgeous and the story it holds inside is an absolute work of art. I read another review where the reviewer said that Annie’s words are lyrical. That the perfect description of how she writes and it describes Lotus Blossom Lane beautifully.
We fell in love with Layla (Lotus) and Michael in Red Dirt Road and we start Lotus Blossom Lane with their wedding. This has to be the most beautiful wedding scene I have ever read, from Layla getting prepared to walk down the aisle to the reception/party after. It was magical. You could see Layla’s dress in your head, almost hear Michael playing the piano, feel the emotions as they say their vows. It was amazing.
The our couple goes off to Ireland for their honeymoon. We meet his family and friends as they become intricately woven into the story line. Throughout this, there is a back story that isn’t talked about in the blurb and I don’t want to go into too much detail, but it ties so much together for us. I cried more than once during these scenes where we introduced to characters from the past.
I love how deeply Annie takes us into the lives of these people, how things that I first read in Marigny Street or in Red Dirt Road became integral here in Lotus Blossom Lane. There are all of these threads that Annie has woven together into this beautiful ribbon that will be tied into a beautiful bow when the series is complete. It is just so neat to see things that I didn’t know were going to be important in one of the book come together with other bits and pieces from the other book, and then watch it turn into something here in the third book. Annie is a master at her art.
I am dying to get my hands on the next book in this series. I cannot wait to see where these characters are going, who is going to be important in whose life who might not even be aware of the other person at this moment in time.
Thank you so much for my copy of Lotus Blossom Lane that was given to me to facilitate this review. This is one of the books that I feel honored to have been asked to read. So beautiful. I wish the words I have could do justice to the amazing book that is Lotus Blossom Lane and the series, Saving Angels.
We follow Michael and Layla’s story in this book, but there is an element of Michael’s long past that is brought out in a parallel story line and I found it so intriguing that I just wanted to keep reading about Eliska and Daniel. It added an incredible level to the story and was fraught with emotion.
And Michael and Layla’s story is told to us in book 2 and continues here, but I feel like I know them so much better in this book. Layla is so funny that I found myself laughing until I cried in certain parts. Michael continues to make me swoon with what a loving, caring man he is to Layla. And those of you who read Marigny Street and fell in love with Gabriel, the movie star, as I did, don’t fret, he is back!!
I am loving this series so much! The books in this series are becoming so entwined with each other that I marvel at Ms. Welch’s ability to spin such a tale! And her writing is simply wonderful, exquisitely descriptive and beautiful! I am anxiously awaiting The Crossroads, the next book in this series. If I could give this more than 5 stars, I most certainly would!!! I would highly recommend this series!! Awesome job Ms. Welch!!!
