'If you are looking for a story that contains, adventure, thrills, conspiracy, terror, drama and a touch of romance, then a new book due to be released shortly called `The Lost Relic', has it all!

`The Lost Relic' written by Scott Mariani, is the sixth book in The Sunday Times bestselling series featuring ex-SAS hero and former theology scholar Ben Hope.

Without divulging any spoilers in relation to this particular story, the tale begins when Ben Hope unwittingly walks into a deadly mission while visiting a former SAS comrade in Italy. When becoming involved as a witness to a brutal gallery robbery, where a seemingly worthless sketch was the principal target, little did Ben Hope know that he would become embroiled in a conspiracy that would involve a Russian gang, their Italian partners, the Carabinieri and the British Serious Organised Crime Agency!

This is the first book written by Scott Mariani that I have actually read and the story held my attention right from the beginning to the very end. Once started, this book is difficult to put down!

The historical detail within this story has obviously been very well researched by Scott, and blends in well with his tale as it unfolds. This is a fast paced story with plenty of adventure and twists, and is not for the faint-hearted in places!

This book is an excellent read, and I will not be at all surprised if it fairly quickly reaches the top of the book charts when it is released by its publisher Avon, on 20th January 2011. In my humble opinion, this is a 'must' read book!!

It was a dissappointing day when I read the final page...or Kindle screen in my case...of this series which totally engrossed me for a number of weeks, but happily the author informs me that there'll be another Ben Hope book available in 2012.
Scott Mariani has created a 'superhero' to rival the more established heros like Reacher and Rapp, although in this book Ben Hope demonstrates a more human side from time to time which is often lacking in the aforementioned competitors.
I really cannot recommend this series highly enough. The plots are imaginative and cleverly developed so as to continually tempt the reader to prematurely turn the next page! (I didn't...but was often tempted!) The characters are really well drawn but never static..there always seems to be some new trait being introduced, often to the surprise of the reader.
This is number 6...if you're reading this review but haven't read any books in the series..there are currently 6..then go to No. 1 and start on the journey. And don't forget the stand alone novella - Passenger 13 - which is equally gripping as the main series.
Scott Mariani is the most exciting action-thriller writer to hit the book shelves, or the download list, for a long time, and I for one will be eagerly awaiting Ben Hope 7.

I highly, highly recommend this book. It's just about far-fetched enough to not take itself too seriously, a bit like a one-man (and one-woman!) Mission Impossible. But the writing is sharp, the characters are everything from hateful to amusing, and the scenes flow beautifully, something which is Mariani's trademark I think. Definitely amongst his best work, perhaps overshadowed by the better complexity of Doomsday Prophecy.

Now I just have the Long Wait until Ben Hope 7, assuming that The Cross will delay this until at least early 2012. Bah. The preview of The Cross makes it look like a worthy sequel to Uprising, but Scott, we NEED Ben!

THE LOST RELIC (Ben Hope 6) - SCOTT MARIANI 25/04/13

As with all Mr Mariani's Ben Hope novels, there is plenty of action, with believable characters, and a equally believable and gripping plot which has already been outlined by other reviewers so I shall not repeat those descriptions, except to say that the often obscure historical aspects of his works are always well researched and usually spin off a flurry of Google searches during the read. In short this is good entertaining reading which I shall keep on my holiday books list and would strongly recommend Mr Mariani to other addicts of the genre.

I originally bought this book shortly after publication as part of a stack of disposable paperbacks collected to take on holiday and as I often do I read it, and then left it on the hotel bookshelf for others to enjoy. I now have a Kindle which replaces those paperbacks when on the move and I re-ordered some of Mr. Mariani titles for our last trip away. The story was a pleasure to re-visit as I am a great follower of archaeological and religious action mysteries and Scott Mariani's stories featuring Ben Hope are certainly some of the best to have emerged from a now very popular genre.

The Kindle Edition: Professionally produced e-book with active index. 5/5

I am relatively new to Scott Mariani's series of Ben Hope novels and currently working my way through them all. They are exciting, full of twists and turns - the sort of book you just cannot put down. However, I haven't enjoyed the sixth book in the series (The Lost Relic) as much as the previous five but will readily admit the fault probably lies with ME rather than the book. Without giving anything away, I found myself losing concentration because I wanted to see a satisfactory end to the misunderstanding between Ben and his girlfriend, which meant I didn't actually enjoy what should have been exciting episodes, wanting to get through them as quickly as possible to find out what happens. Unfortunately, I got to the end and STILL don't know! Guess I must be a romantic at heart
