Great oven, Great support from supplier, as when it arrived the stone was cracked, but a free placement was very speedily received. Easily gets up to 400 degrees, you do need a good supply of seasoned wood to use it well. We have cooked pizza, jacket potatoes and had a bar-b-que with it, and used it as a very cosy fire to sit around on a cold evening.
simple i had to add more bars to the fire grill to keep a fire bed and heat, but even that did not work with wood i had to use BBQ coals to keep some heat in the oven, had it for some time and used it 6 or 7 time still cant get it to cook, oven burns bottom and top not cooked or the heat drops so fast u have to add more wood or coals and end up with smoked pizza, not nice. the customer service were not any help at all at la hacienda and the info on how to use the oven was all most no use i say all most, it was good for fire lighting. sorry but may be it is me but i could not get this oven to cook pizza.
Great little oven, wood fired pizza's are delicious, the thermometer helps to ensure good results are achieved every time. We've also used as a BBQ that was good although when we tried smoking our food we found that because there was no seal around the doors it made it difficult to maintain heat in the top oven for long enough to cook the food and when stoking the fire below it flamed and burnt the food. All the sites on how to use a smoker say it takes practice and not to expect your first attempts to succeed so don't let this put you off. We absolubtly love it as a BBQ and pizza oven.
Amazing pizza oven for the price ! As with many other buyers the pizza stone was broken in transit (a problem with the way La Hacienda seem to package it) but I contacted the seller (Oxford BBQ's - cheapest option through Amazon) and got a replacement sent through in excellent time ! Sturdy design and fairly easy to use once you can control the temperature - took a while to get the temp stable using a mixture of paper, cardboard and wood using BBQ charcoals, but once I got that steady knocked out 5 pizza's in less than an hour ! Aim for 200-250 C and cook for 8-10 minutes. I did invest in a cover (£23 from Oxford BBQ's too) which fits perfectly and will help to keep the oven in good nick. Amazing value for money when you consider the next cheapest option will cost upwards of £600-700 !
This is a well made oven. It has multile functions and can be used as a barbecue, a smoker, and by putting in the pizza stone, a pizza oven. It can be used with charcoal and wood. We are looking forward to many years of outdoor cooking!
This was a present and I am very pleased with it. When opened up I found that the oven thermometer was damaged. Contacted supplier who sent new one without any problems. (I think the thermometer is the weak point as the replacement does not appear to provide accurate information,) Easily assembled. Started off by trying to burn wood but failed abysmally. Resorted in the end to using self lighting briquettes (which instructions say should not be used) and these are great. Have cooked pizzas, fish and meat joints and very satisfied with the results. Manufacturer needs to make a cover for it, as I have tried to find one to fit and at the moment I have to cover it with plastic sheeting. Well pleased.
