Great oven, Great support from supplier, as when it arrived the stone was cracked, but a free placement was very speedily received. Easily gets up to 400 degrees, you do need a good supply of seasoned wood to use it well. We have cooked pizza, jacket potatoes and had a bar-b-que with it, and used it as a very cosy fire to sit around on a cold evening.
Arrived early in delivery window; very clear instructions enabled easy construction; impressive design and functionality. Looking forward to the first sunny day to enjoy its products, would recommend to any BBQ enthusiast.
Just bought this as a birthday pressie for hubby. Everything arrived intact and was assembled quickly and easily. Very sturdy. Cooked about 10 small pizzas yesterday for the first time. Made dought from a Jamie Oliver recipe - was easy and very nice. We made small pizzas as we don't have one of those paddles to put them on yet so we used the flat bottom of a cake tin - we assembled the pizzas on the tin and slid them onto the hot stone - this worked perfectly. We used charcoal and when the coals were ready we opened the door to the compartment where the coals are and this kept a good temperature throughout cooking (about 250) pizzas cooked in about 10-15 mins and we're nice and crispy on bottom and cheese and toppings well cooked and bubbling. We were cooking over a period of 2-3 hours and just added a little kindling towards the end to keep it going . Am pleased to say we are very happy with our new toy and look forward to trying lots if different things - would recommend buying one if those paddle things though to make life easier . Enjoy.
simple i had to add more bars to the fire grill to keep a fire bed and heat, but even that did not work with wood i had to use BBQ coals to keep some heat in the oven, had it for some time and used it 6 or 7 time still cant get it to cook, oven burns bottom and top not cooked or the heat drops so fast u have to add more wood or coals and end up with smoked pizza, not nice. the customer service were not any help at all at la hacienda and the info on how to use the oven was all most no use i say all most, it was good for fire lighting. sorry but may be it is me but i could not get this oven to cook pizza.
This seems to be very much the prototype design with a few technical issues to iron out. Namely the fact that the base does not attach securely to the main oven with the screws provided (which are the wrong size as well as needing bolts). I addressed this serious safety issue to the company, who chose to enthusiastically ignore it. Imagine the scene: Heavy and potentially hot oven, someone unaware of the fault attempts to drag it somewhere, oven detaches from base. Instead of a nice day of al fresco dining, you are now queuing up in A & E all day waiting for someone's crushed foot to be seen to etc etc. The pizza stone arrived in 'mosaic' style. I was assured a new one would be sent, that never happened. I've re-designed the attaching bolts and sorted my own bbq out but the customer service to rectify faults was frankly shocking. Still, it now works quite well as an oven and very well as a chimnea for when the evening cools down. This could be a great product if only they listened to their customers.
Great little oven, wood fired pizza's are delicious, the thermometer helps to ensure good results are achieved every time. We've also used as a BBQ that was good although when we tried smoking our food we found that because there was no seal around the doors it made it difficult to maintain heat in the top oven for long enough to cook the food and when stoking the fire below it flamed and burnt the food. All the sites on how to use a smoker say it takes practice and not to expect your first attempts to succeed so don't let this put you off. We absolubtly love it as a BBQ and pizza oven.
