I was asked to be a beta reader for "Lord Tristan's True Love" and knew that as soon as it was released, I had to share what I thought of it. What a cleverly written period piece! This was the perfect balance between love and romance. Kymber Lee is a natural at weaving a story that makes you feel as though you were back in the regency era. Her characters literally come alive in your imagination. Her fascinating story line captured me and drew me into the center of the excitement! This book has become one of my instant favorites. I plan to order several copies as gifts.

I found handling of the plot tedious, and the main characters unsympathetic - both were apt to bully their servants and frankly, both were so immature they should have been left in the schoolroom. The period hadn't been well-researched, and was mainly held together by references to Countess Lieven, Almacks and Gunter's (incorrectly spelled "Gunther's, assuming the author was referring to the famous tea shop). Titles were rarely handled correctly - ten minutes on the internet would have provided the correct information. Regular readers of historical novels will be aware of these details, and it's insulting not to take the trouble to get them right. I found the language irritating - the author attempted to achieve a period feel with a liberal spattering of "methinks" , "mayhap" and "perchance", which sat oddly with Americanisms such as "gotten". Note that Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" does not contain a single "methinks", "mayhap" or "perchance".

5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully romantic period story! 15 Nov. 2012
By DeEtte Anderton - Published on Amazon.com

Lord Tristan's True Love is a wonderful story that will take you back in time to the first years of the 19th century. Lord Tristan, an earl, comes to the rescue of a young lady, who is also from a noble family. Due to the expectations of the Society in which they lived, he must marry her to prevent her and her family from being dishonored. Lord Tristan is arrogant, and Caroline, an only child and independent by nature, hates the thought of having to marry him. In the few weeks until her impending marriage, Caroline attempts to convince Lord Tristan to change his mind and release her from their engagement through some devious means. But Lord Tristan stubbornly holds on.

As time draws nearer to the wedding, Caroline is allowed to spend time in society for the Season. Every time she goes out, Lord Tristan is there. Without revealing the ending of this wonderfully romantic period story, I will say that I recommend it highly!

The characters are beautifully period characters, and behave the way the upper class behaved in the second decade of the 19th century. I am a history enthusiast, and I found Lord Tristan's True Love to be very believable and charming. Reading it was an enjoyable romantic trip back in time.

I give it five stars! Well done, Kymber Lee!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good read 5 Jun. 2014
By Cynthia Ann Smith - Published on Amazon.com

I found both the writing and the story to be very disjointed and s rather stilted. I found that I could not really like either of the two main characters. The hero was arrogant and bossy and the heroine was sharp tongued and rude even when the hero was trying to be nice to her. The two of them are constantly sniping at each other which bodes ill for a long term relationship. I was actually starting to like Darlington a little and then he gets offended and over some little thing and goes and sleeps with his former mistress. Then Caroline doesn't "realize she is in love with Tristan" until she sees his manor house. I would call that cream pot love.
All in all I was very disappointed with the book and would not recommend it when there are so many better stories available.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not usually a romance reader, but I loved this book! 4 Dec. 2012
By Alex Cartwright - Published on Amazon.com

I love to read lots of different genres, and have read a few romances here and there, but they are not something I usually reach for.

I was invited to a book release party for this book and on a whim decided to attend. It was so much fun, and how could I not buy the book? Having bought the book, how could I not read it? Having read it, I'm so so so happy that everything worked out the way it did. I loved this story!

Seriously, the characters were so engaging, the time period such an intriguing thing to think about, and the story so fun. I lost quite a bit of sleep not being able to put this tale down and wanting to know when Tristan was going to get over himself and when dear miss Caroline was going to realize that he was being silly and cared so deeply for her.

My only complaint? It was over far too quick! I so want to hear about their life beyond the end of this story. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars A BEAUTIFUL WARM STORY 21 Nov. 2012
By RJ Parker, Ph.D - Published on Amazon.com

LORD TRISTAN'S TRUE LOVE by the prolific up and coming author Kymber Lee is a well-written and passionate 19th century era love story. Further to the book description, Caroline, who comes from a noble family, is forced to marry Lord Tristan, an arrogant and ignorant character. The wedding is a few weeks away and she is not happy as she doesn't love him. She pleads with him to change his mind and to call off the wedding but he refuses. She is mean to him in public and does virtually everything to embarrass him with hopes that he will let her go. But, he's stubborn and steadfast.

A very entertaining story with a good mix of characters and a dab of humor. I enjoyed it and hope you will too. Highly recommended.

Really?
Not a good story - not well written - not a good story line - and just how dumb are we anyway?
