You may call me a tomboy but re-creating the epic, great battles in `The Lord of the Rings' (films) is both exciting and fills one with delight for they are so intensely captivating on screen. This brilliant book complete with a color map of Middle-earth is a must have for all those fans of the films, which were so successful namely due to Peter Jackson who brought Tolkien's creation to life for us all to experience. Collecting the realistic miniature sculptures is extremely fun as you watch the Rohirim grow in number under the guidance of King Théoden, similarly to the great mass of Orcs and Uruk-hai who plan their attack on helms deep. This manual forms a complete and invaluable guide with colorfully illustrated pages that denote the essential rules, information and information to bring the battles of Middle-Earth to life upon your own tabletop. One is not restricted to buying expensive scenery and figures, for many pages explain how one can make your own out of readily available materials, hence you do not need much other than a bit of imagination to begin your own battle. This book solely covers the significant battles within the `Two Towers' (film 2), and includes scenarios such as the Warg attack, the ambush in Ithilien, the Deeping wall & gateway, Helms Deep and Osgiliath and Isenguard.

Complete with some stunning photographs from the film, character descriptions and diagrams that clearly and straightforwardly explain how it works this book is essential for all those who wish to re-create those epic, unforgettable moments.

As an undeniably great fan of the Lord of the Rings films and aficionado of JRR Tolkien's extensive works including this one, I am keen to explore more about Middle-Earth including those remarkable battles that remain etched within my mind for all-time. I do have a habit of collecting things and if related to either Tolkien or the fantastic films that depicted his vision so astutely, then it is hardly a surprise to many that `The Lord of the Rings' strategy battle game is on the list. Helms Deep has to be the most memorable battle in all the three films, as I found it quite stirring to watch and which displayed the courage and bravery of those within the fellowship & others (i.e. King Théoden and the Elves) that is so poignant and a momentous part I think. I would greatly recommend this book, even to collectors of LOTR merchandise & books.
