Not Jackson's greatest, but still good enough (in my humble view), for a top rating. From the first crashing guitar chords of the title track, you know what you're in for - soul-searching lyrics backed by an incredibly tight band (Note for UK readers - I don't mean that kind of "tight"). A real highlight is "Some Bridges", re-uniting Jackson with polyester-clad multi-instrumentalist David Linley (you need to see the "Going Home" video for a full explanation..). Overall, another top album from the poet of the West Coast.

I just can't like this album as much as other JB offerings. About half the songs are excellent but the rest are a bit short of ideas and not particularly melodic. There are some outstanding tracks, Barricades of Heaven, Nino and Alive in the World but "Information Wars" is a lame effort.

Buy this only to complete your collection but it's not an album to get you into JB.
